Litchfield type 25

Had a look on just about every site and forum, can't seem to see any for sale. Just very limited numbers or owners just keep them for a longtime ? Not many videos on YouTube either.

#16 is here 👍

Buzzer2017 24 March 2017 11:59 PM

Any info or pics of her?

No 37 here.

XRS 25 March 2017 12:21 PM

No. 27 here, owned from new so kept for a long time I guess :)

Buzzer2017 25 March 2017 07:56 PM

Ok, so a few users online here. Good to know. I have a deposit on one at the moment, but it's taken 7 plus weeks so far to get sorted. Another 1 or 2 to collect , if I don't buy something else in the meantime

Put some pics up when you can👍

Buzzer2017 25 March 2017 09:35 PM

I will when I confirm and pay the balance, it's a type UK widetrack as far as I can tell from codes under the bonnet and has a mk2 2.5 engine with a LM500 turbo.

scoobyraj 25 March 2017 11:55 PM

Another one here! Number 45, black hawkeye A-line!
Very close to selling her for a deposit for a house unfortunately.

I thought all T25's were JDM cars....where have you seen this one Buzzer2017?

Not sure if these codes make any sense to you.

scoobyraj 26 March 2017 12:39 AM

Is there a build number in the car and a T25 badge under the bonnet/engine bay?

These are Mark 1 plaques off of my car👍

XRS 26 March 2017 08:51 PM

Not heard of a UK Type-25. I'd be tempted to talk to Iain Litchfield to confirm, if he'll answer.

Buzzer2017 26 March 2017 09:05 PM

Can somebody confirm that by the codes on the picture that I posted.

scoobyraj 26 March 2017 11:19 PM

I was slightly dubious for the same reason.
Iain is pretty hard to get hold of (especially if it's about Subaru's!) but worth a call anyway. I'd expect if all you were asking was if any UK base models were used for T25's that would be easy enough to answer.
They may not give any info about individual cars but you have nothing to lose so well worth a call!

Your VIN plate is very similar to mine, which implies that it is a JDM. I was thrown by the "2.5" plate as no JDM car came with that engine. Does the car have a rear windscreen wiper (I'm assuming it's not a Spec C)?

Buzzer2017 27 March 2017 03:53 PM

VIN with GDB is confirmed as JDM
It has a rear wiper and is not a spec C, water bottles under the bonnet
I have the original receipt from litchfield for the car wirh a mk1 2.5 and for the mk2 rebuilt in 2012, American spec 2.5 block.

XRS 27 March 2017 10:16 PM

Sounds right to me then.

Buzzer2017 27 March 2017 10:18 PM

So it's basically a JDM STI widetrack?

Yes.

XRS 28 March 2017 09:12 AM

Yes, and it should be crystal grey.

The Forester STI and Legacy S402 models have the JDM 2.5 block.

I have #22. If you have the mk2 short block, you'll be able to see the red engine build plate under the right hand side of the intercooler (assuming it still has a top mount).

Something like Cosworth SB #####. Cosworth USA built a few hundred of them.

Not sure what to look for if you have the Cosworth heads as well.

Is your's the crystal grey one that Iain rebuilt with the Cosworth motor? If so it has an interesting history.

Buzzer2017 31 March 2017 02:53 PM

Please share. Pm if needs be.

Yes, it started life as a daily driver by someone who used it as a rally rec car on the continent. Big spotlights on the front bumper (since replaced to get rid of the screws left after removal of the lights).

Next owner had issues with a blown MD555 turbo and discovered someone had dropped in forged pistons. It sounded a bit like a diesel taxi at startup.

When I got it, I was a bit concerned at the oil consumption, though it was still sound to drive, and got it rebuilt with the US Cosworth short block, plus 800cc injectors and LM450, recently serviced with bronze bearing carrier and billet wheel.

It's been pampered ever since, can't see anything suitable to replace it with, as I doubt it'll be worth much to anyone who doesn't know what it is.

Does anyone know if Jenny Litchfield kept the list of what Type-25s are still in existence?

Not the one I'm thinking of then.

I doubt Litchfield's have any information on T25s these days, they've moved on to greater things.
