07 Spec D alarm programming failing
 

The battery was dead on one of my fobs for a while. I've replaced the battery now, but the fob isn't unlocking the car and I can't get the alarm to enter the programming mode.

The fob is the later type, builtin to the key. The keypad looks the same as the other Sigma alarms.

I have a working fob and don't know the PIN, so I'm trying to use *17856*91*2#

Every time I try it fails. Seemingly randomly it will respond to one of the key presses with a rapid flashing LED rather than a single flash.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?

- Arm and then Disarm the system using the working Radio Key.
- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad- *17856*91*2# where 2 is total number of radio keys to work the system
- Briefly press both radio keys in turn (the dash board LED will flash each time and the siren will bleep) Any radio keys not programmed here will no-longer operate the system.
- You should now be able to arm and disarm the system using all the radio keys programmed.

When using the keypad always observe the following points:-
The PIN number should not be entered too quickly or too slowly - when a digit has been pressed the small LED built into the keypad will illuminate briefly as confirmation and only then should the next digit be entered. - If an incorrect digit is pressed or the delay between entering digits exceeds10 seconds, then the LED above the keypad will flash rapidly and the PIN attempt should be abborted and started again after 30 seconds.
- Due to the small size of the keypad some users may find a rubber tipped pencil easier to use. DO NOT use the sharp tip of a ball point pen etc, or press excessively hard on the keypad as this will only damage the membrane and cause a digit to remain pressed, causing a continual incorrect PIN.
- The keypad allows only THREE PIN attempts and then will "Lock Up" if an incorrect number is entered a third time. This is a security feature to prevent random PIN attempts disarming the system. (try again after 30mins)

Well, yes, those are indeed the instructions I'm trying to follow. I used them in the successfully on my MY2000 classic.

I've double checked many times that I'm using the correct* sequence of keys. I'm pressing them before the timeout.

But it isn't working. Part way through typing in the sequence the led will flash multiple times. The point in the sequence at which it fails seems to be random.

* I'm human, so I guess I could still be doing something wrong, but I've done my best to make sure I'm not screwing it up

I just tried again:

- unlocked the car with the working fob
- sat down
- opened alarm panel
- pressed *
- one flash
- pressed 1
- multiple flashes, pause, more multiple flashes

I'm 100% confident at this point that I'm not pressing the wrong keys :(

Could be a duff keypad

Not sure when they started using the S30/32 model of sigma alarm (different version keypad) but programming sequence the same

I guess I'm going to have to find myself a Sigma alarm specialist :(

The procedure to program the fob on the S series and M series sigma alarms are different.
Im pretty sure your alarm will be an M series and the way your trying to programme is correct for the M series.
But you can no longer get parts for the M series so we convert them to S series when they go wrong...maybe yours has been converted? Maybe try the S series procedure.

I have a "new" keypad, now I just need to work out where the alarm actually lives so I can plug it in an try it ;)

I guess it is behind the glovebox ?

ARGHHHHH

Before I had chance to dismantle things and try the new keypad, I lost the working key/fob.

I don't believe I know the existing PIN, so I am now faced with removing the alarm.

The alarm installer I've contacted says disabling these alarms is a nightmare job, takes ages and he probably won't be able to get to me for over a week.

Piece of piss to bypass takes 20 mins!
