Can anyone confirm that this will fit my 2008 hatch???

On their website it states 2011 onwards and the next page that has grilles etc for the 2008 model hatch doesn't have one for the bonnet scoop.

To me they look the same and I don't understand why they'd make one for the later years and not the 2008 onwards which makes me think it'll fit.

I'm going to buy a lower grille as well, I think that will tidy it up especially in black.

Do you think the front end looks better as it is with the fmic on show or would it look better with a black lower grille?

Cheers

If id a front mount id defo have the lower grill as an extra level of protection for it.

Regarding scoop grill it will should fit as it has same bonnet and scoop 2008 onwards, i dont like scoop grill though

The reason for wanting a grille for the bonnet scoop is the bits that ar usually to the inside of the scoop is gone, it looks more open than usual and allows stuff to get in more easily. I think the std bits fouled the fmic pipes and bov so it was removed.

I got a reply from them via email and the scoop grille will not fit my hatch. Bummer, I'll be able to buy some mesh and make one.

It does fit, i have one fitted to a 2008 car.

Straight fit? I wonder why they would say otherwise.

not sure it'll be a straight fit if you dont have the plastic inners of the scoop anymore as i pretty sure it mounts via it

Sounds like I'll need to doctor it regardless, if I buy mesh and cut it to shape I'd need to think of a way to fit it so might as well purchase the one that's already to shape.

I didn't fit it myself, but it looks a direct fit, even if not it would be minimal hassle as the actual opening is the same and it fits perfectly in there.

it will fit

you just need to take all the padding from the bonnet then fit the grill .... easy to do.then pop the padding back in...

I have one on my hatch and looks neat tidy and finished

I think the padding stuff you're talking about is missing from mine, I think it was removed to make room for fmic pipes etc.

Not a fan of the scoup grille either

I'd rather leave it as it is but because that stuff is missing there's a higher chance of more crap getting in.

The flow is not great and adding further restrictions is not good.

It's got a fmic though.

The airflow does help cool the engine and gearbox.

matt-c 09 March 2017 10:43 AM

Counter argument is that positive pressure in the engine bay could reduce efficiency of FMIC.

As for aesthetic preference, you actually very rarely notice it there because it's so recessed.

I have mine purely to try to stop larger debris getting in there.

Paben 09 March 2017 10:43 AM

There's nothing to harm behind the scoop once the TMIC has gone so no problem.
