Pressure washers

I'm looking for some recommendations for pressure washers, in particular the karcher range.......

Just for washing the car and being able to use snow foam etc.

Which one is ideal without bursting the bank, I don't want to spend more than I have to really.

Cheers

What's that.....

Edit: just googled it, I'll have a look

ditchmyster 04 March 2017 10:23 AM

Just bought the no name 100 quider from Argos with the metal pump, (you'll know which one if you look) spent a full day with it going ALL DAY bar the odd tea break cleaning the patio, never missed a beat... which is more than can be said for the Karcher that I used to do it the last time... died after about 2hrs.

Your money, your choice, but I'd never fork out for Karcher again.

Easy to use snow foam etc?

They all are with the snow foam applicator bottle, mine came with a detergent bottle and a patio lance attachment (round thing with a spinning head inside) But your snow foam thing you want to get from somewhere like detailing world anyway.

I'd be more concerned about the quality of the machine than the add ons... nowt worse than forking out for a name brand and then it dies on you and you find out although it cost an arm and a leg it's sh!ot.

Still have my Karcher I rescued from a skip, must be 12 years ago now :D

bustaMOVEs 04 March 2017 11:16 AM

Nilfisk is the recommended one, I bought a foam lance as the one that comes with it is rubbish tbh.

Mine was ok for 2/3yrs just washing the car 5 mins at a time, it's prolonged use where they fall over.... bought a cheap 50 quidder from cost co after that and it's still going... gets used for all sorts out here in CRO... it's maybe 10yrs old now and still as good as the day I bought it.

Lidl, £79.99, in store 2nd March, so might still have stock, German manufacturer, rebadged for lidl - 3 year warranty.

I had an expensive Karcher a number of years ago, pump failed, wouldn't entertain another.

Another vote for Nilfisk, metal where others are plastic.

ossett2k2 04 March 2017 11:35 AM

CPC are currently doing the Nilfisk 110bar washer for £54.95 :thumb:
Or the bigger 120bar for £79.98

JDM_Stig 04 March 2017 11:40 AM

Screwfix do Nilfisk on offer, I have a C120 iirc, was about the price mentioned above,

Then you just get the correct adaptor for your PW for the snow foam gun, the gun is the same but the part that interlocks into the lances are different from brand to brand.

I used a Karcher HD series pro electric washer for my business for a few years and always had problems with it, surging on start. It burnt out and I was recommended a petrol engine and Intapump. Obviously this is not in the right price range, but the specialist did say all Karcher were poor internally.

Here's the one I bought, scroll down, I linked the main page so you can compare specs. :thumb:

I bought my foam lance with connector already on from eBay, like you said just choose one that's nilfisk compatible.

Yeah, the image was to show those who didn`t know why they are different, you will find who ever sells a Karcher will sell them all,
You also pick them up on ebay cheap, I got a spare HD Lance with brass Karcher adaptor for 15 quid, I use the SD lances, but also have a HD, but found it a bit heavy to waft around with a litre of water attached,
The SD lances are a lot lighter and I can do two cars with a 500ml mix, and I like a thick foam, like shaving foam, this doesnt run off.

DTB 04 March 2017 06:54 PM

I got a Karcher K2 free with Tesco car insurance about 8 years ago. I've done a power of work with it above and beyond regular snow foam & jet wash, including some stints of hours without a break - and it still works!

It's served me so well that when I noticed B&Q had some on offer for £40 this week I bought another one as a spare.

Comes with loads......might entertain that, I'm back in Stirling tomorrow so could pick it up.

Matty81 05 March 2017 09:33 AM

I've got a karcher k2 with a snow foam lance and it's been brilliant the last 5yrs

sti-chris 05 March 2017 01:35 PM

My last Karcher was a HD model and went on for around 14 years. used every other day and at times ran for hours no issues, I then went to look at a replacement and the Nilfisk got some great reviews and I was going to buy the semi commercial unit. I wandered into costco one Sunday and there was a Karcher K4 model with all the attachments, at a price that was too good to walk away from, So once again i'm back in a Karcher.

B0DSKI 06 March 2017 09:27 AM

Kranzle if you're going to be using it a fair amount.

If not a Nilfisk is considerably better made than a Karcher these days

Jonny Park 06 March 2017 10:43 PM

Get the Karcher one that Matt LeBlanc tested on Top Gear last night.Absolutely fcuking mental thing that cost £150k.Yes that is not a typo,A jet wash that cost One hundred & fifty thousand pounds.I don't know how to put a link up but have a search it really is bonkers.

bighead 09 March 2017 12:05 AM

you will need a Karcher K4 model at the very least to have good pressure !!, k2 or k3s just don't have the pressure need to clean the alloys on a car .

Matty81 09 March 2017 05:56 AM

I've got a k2 and the dirt falls of mine. But I do use alloy wheel protector after cleaning them

TonyBurns 09 March 2017 11:50 AM

Another vote for Nilfisk, wouldnt touch a Karcher with a barge pole, very over rated with cheap plastic internals.
