What should I expect

The misses has decided she wants to run the 1/4 mile in 4 weeks time at santapod. Now I no it's been done and said many times about what time should she expect but what do you think?

Full spec is
V2 sti no weight reduction
2.3 cdb
Sc46 billet
900cc injectors
Rotated manifold
Gt spec headers
Sti 6 speed
R180 diff
Carbonetic twin plate clutch.
Running 497bhp & 520ftlb
Ect ect. I know people's times will vary according to driver but she is pretty good behind the wheel
Thanks

Spec is awesome, sounds like a very fast car,the short sti box won't be the best on the 1/4 mile but I would guess 11.24s :)

What time are you hoping for?

It does make for a very fast road car mate. Well it is a UK sti box mate sorry should have stated that I don't really mind mate would love to see 10s but I doubt that ☺

ossett2k2 25 February 2017 10:35 PM

Would of loved to have come racing but my car needs a little work before I dare take it onto a track,it's my daily so have to be careful(ish) until I get a few things sorted.
I'll probably take it for a gentle run down the York strip for my 1st run as it's fairly local.

I've always fancied going to santapod tho even if it's just as a spectator,so if I'm not working and the missus wants a day out then I might just have a trip down there :thumb:

Here you go mate 😊

96sti 26 February 2017 05:34 PM

Anymore idea on times?

neil97rs 27 February 2017 10:41 AM

Drag times are so unpredictable way to many variables. Bogging down on the line missing a gear. Track conditions weather conditions but if I was going to have a guess I would say mid 12,s.. I think the car could run faster but if its your first time having a go that's my guess

I will see on the day anyway as I will be there. Not sure if im going to run though.

edsel 27 February 2017 04:39 PM

My first go in my 320 six speed V2 RA had me doing 13.10 best, theres a lot more to this 1/4 mile lark than meets the eye. This was with spare tyre, sandwiches and all the other crap that's been collected in the car. I expect to get in the 12's this year.
My biggest issue was missing third changing from second. You'll be in super car territory off the line, there isn't a lot that can keep up with a light weight Impreza off the mark.
If it all holds together I think you should see -11 secs after some practice

Thanks mate yeah i understand there are a lot of aspects to take into consideration on the day. Have you run before?

There's a good dragstrip thread on here somewhere with times and what specs the cars are, might even be some tips for novices.

Lovely car & fantastic spec.As has been said 1/4 mile is another kind of motoring skill all compressed into a very short space of time.

Good luck with it.BTW was that Slowboy Racing your car was at & did Neil help with the car?

Thankyou. And no all the work done to my vehicle was done by stuart at Tfs racing in aldershot. Some may know him through doing Simons (JGM) car.

neil97rs 28 February 2017 05:14 PM

I have done a few but never managed better than 14 s

im just not harsh enough off the line. You have to be very mechanically insensitive to get decent times. I just cannot get my self to rev it to 6k then drop the clutch

scoobiepaul 28 February 2017 06:56 PM

Mate had similar power in a lovely ra, but he was quite kind with the launch and did 11.6 secs, don't think his torque was as high. I think a lot of people (me included) don't change up soon enough, if you have a rolling road graph try to change up when you reach maximum torque probably around 5500 to 6500 rpm.

96sti 01 April 2017 01:42 PM

Anymore geusses before the day tommorow?

scoobiepaul 02 April 2017 05:29 PM

How did it go then? My guess 11.78 at 115mph :thumb:

Wayneo 02 April 2017 11:51 PM

,,,,

Wayneo 02 April 2017 11:52 PM

i wanna know :-/

96sti 05 April 2017 07:05 PM

Sorry for delay the Mrs ran a 12.7 @ 111mph reaction time of 1.9536 she says she knows she can do better so are going again in 4 weeks time. Also changing the wheels from 18s to 17s :)

trevsjwood 05 April 2017 08:39 PM

reaction time isn't important unless you're racing the car in the other lane, basically sit there until you're ready, 60ft times are important, aim for around 1.7 sec, car has good momentum, then it's just a case of clean gear shifts to the line.
Trev

ossett2k2 05 April 2017 09:14 PM

Well done to the missus,I'd be well happy with anything in the 12's :thumb:

Reaction time or 60ft time ??? As said, reaction time is meaningless. Just sit there until you're ready to go. The timer starts when you leave, not when the light goes green.

Her quickest reaction time of the day was 0.7495 and 0-60ft was 1.9536 :)
