brake upgrade help newage?
 

Hi guys

I need to upgrade the brake set up on my jdm hawkeye. I have done research and it seems PF 2 piece discs are the way to go with the standard 4 pot brembos. Trouble is nobody has these discs as PF have stop production for whatever reason and no eta. From looking at different threads mainly from google this is what i have found -

1. Godspeed 2 piece discs dont use good enough material which causes corrosion etc
(no disrespect to them, just what i can find on the net)

2. Ksport/D2 big brake upgrades use inferior parts compared to the brembos and you cant get hold of discs

3. Girodisc rotors wear out too quickly and are nowhere near as good as the PF ones.

4. EBC discs - general consensus is they aren't any good

5. Stoptech - cant find much out about them really, anything i did find wasn't positive feedback


Now i go away to the ring/spa in April and i want to get something sorted asap. My only other option i can see is to buy AP Racing 6 pot calipers upgrade in 330mm to fit under my standard 17" wheels :wonder: I dont fancy spending over £2000 on brakes though really

Have you tried adding a brakestopper?

My brakes have improved 100% since fitting one tegiwa make them brakes feel much more solid, planted and the abs doesn't kick in all the time neither:thumb:

Much cheaper option before the brake upgrade you defo won't regret it

i did buy one from tegiwa, i tried fitting it but couldnt get one of the bolts in for the life of me, it was about 2mm off :(

its currently got brembo discs from eurocarparts on it, obviosuly the cheap brembo ones so i really have to do something

Some good quality genuine brembo discs, you can't go wrong really, most others are just for looks imo, unless need 2 piece.
Get a good pad and I bet the genuine brembo discs will do (depending on caliper you have of course)

I had genuine brembo discs with rc6 pads and they took some abuse and held up pretty well and lasted long enough also.

wouldnt get the drilled ones to avoid cracking obviously

just the standard newage 4 pot brembo calipers

Yep, couple them with decent pads

thank you ive ordered pfc z rated pads to go with them

Have you swapped to braided hoses? Combined with a brake stopper they can make a huge difference.

i have HEL braided lines yes, i will try the cdf racing brake stopper and hopefully that will be a better fit than the tegiwa one i tried

I fitted a cdf one, and the bolts supplied were nothing like the right size. In the end I had to take out the grommets holding on the boost solenoid and get some spare bolts from my tin.

I got a Tegiwa one, and it didn't come with mounting bolts. The bolts on the bracket that was occupying one of the holes wouldn't reach, so I used some M6 bolts I had around.

It was quite a fiddle to fit but mostly because of the air box being in the way.

thanks for the replies guys, looks like both of these have little issues then. With the cdf one being twice the price, you would think at least the bolts would be right!

very odd as PFC have never made the Z-rated pad in a suitable shape for the 4pot...........

He has brembos

Was skimming and just saw the new-age 4pot ref......
