Bed mattress
as they get older I sort of assumed springs would wear down , mattress would get become too soft ?!
is this just not the case ? ours is divan , but I'm not touching the base ! i frequently now wake up sore flanks / ribs - like the mattress has firmed up whist been asleep all fine after walking around in morning |

Also they sag, putting more pressure onto joints, your spine and pressure points.
Go and lie on a new one, you'll see. |
We just replaced ours after us both waking up with lower back pain. We went for the OTTY mattress and pillows, actually can't believe the difference and after a few weeks we are no longer feeling the pains.
|
OTTY?
|
After trying out loads and reading lots of reviews, we went with this one.

yea Otty, it's great! |
This topic is close to my heart, I've been having terrible back pain in the mornings that dissapears after about 15mins. Some days are worse than others.
I had pulled a muscle during one bout of the sickness and diarrhoea bug and it's never really recovered, so we decided the best option was to get a new mattress as ours was utter crap, I went and tried some out and they were awesome. I spent a fair few quid and it should be here this week coming, I can't wait. |
Just woke up , had take paracetamol ( 3rd night in a row)
Iv had Back pain , lower back . This is different, it's like the bed is too hard But it's uniform hard all over far as I can tell Maybe that mattresses topper stuff , or start from scratch |
Could just be me of course, girlfriend says it's not great either - but she doesn't get the same rib pain afaik
I did have heavy impact with boom windsurfing about 5 years ago , can't be that though cos it's all gone 10 mins walking about |

Oh , for sure
|
Tempur mattress - was pretty expensive for a matress, but definitely worth it. Also guaranteed for 10 years
|
Slept so well since I got a divorce and had the bed to myself. :-)
Mind you,cost me £300k |
300k ! Id be up all night lol
|
lol
|
200 gallons of H20 :)
Wife used to complain about back pain all the time Went over to a 95% motion damped waterbed, and after the initial couple of days, never had a problem since Mart |
how does that work with the old , " bedroom activities " ?
|
Me and the missus used to wake up in pain due to our old matress, we did have it 10 years so is probably to be expected really, i was constantly waking up with ribs and shoulder pains and the missus was getting a bad back neigh on every day. In the end i thought fook it and started looking at bed and matress combos, we ended up with a nice bed and a tempur matress, not cheap at all but the sleep we get now is perfect. I should of spent the money years ago tbh

I'm considering mattress topper ( since the mattress itself seems ok)
Why don't you sweat like a ********d With the foam ones ? Had foam on the boat uncovered for a while and it would be soggy overnight |

Closed cell is that semi rigid stuff isn't it ?
like Thermrest use for camping mattress I'm not sure about spending that much on a tempur , but thanks anyway |

I'm not sure about spending that much on a tempur , but thanks anyway What size? Firm, medium or soft? What's the budget? If you let me know these things I can help you, Duncan. Also, well worth considering a clearance mattress. Expect to get a genuine 50% discount for negligible defects. |
Thanks for that !

We used to have a Tempur memory foam matress.
Not sure how long they are supposed to last but after 7 years it was saggy and we both used to wake up with pains. The wife was complaining for a while that it's not comfortable, I should have listened to her earlier. We now have a Hypnos and we can both get good sleep. |

No problem whatsoever ;) If its freeflow, do it on the flooor ;) Motion damped has internal baffling which give the resistance of a normal bed Any major movement - turning over etc is damped in 1.5 seconds Mart |

Tempur come with a 10 year guarantee. We have one and it's still mint after 8 years so you're particularly unlucky if it failed. Are you sure it was Tempur rather than a generic memory foam? Hypnos are excellent.
Not sure if it's bad luck or the people sleeping on it when we rented the house for a few years that were overweight.. |

I am pretty sure it was Tempur, it cost around £1500 IIRC.

The 'Artisan' range from these guys is supposed to exceptionally good.
https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/produ...e_pa_size=king I like that they set out the important data about the matress construction. We have a Sealey matress which has been very disappointing; its memory foam started to loss its memory after about 3 years, just coming up on 6 years and I want rid. Always important to have a comformtable bed and comfortable shoes, in you are not in one you are in the other! |
