Polishing Machines
 

Hi,

Does anyone personally use a polishing machine and if so which one and what are your experiences with it? Having had a look around I'm thinking a DAS-6 Pro is the way to go.

Also what pads and compound do you find get the best results?

The Das is a good little tool, I use Hexlogic pads.

I have used the daz 6 for 5 years
Excellent machine
I use chemical guys hex pads and their cutting fluid
Lots of tips on detailing world how to learn the polishing techniques and cutting

Great fun

Definitely a good bit of kit. Tried my mates once and was happy with the results, but they are a difficult thing to master once you start using one. Found it heavy and difficult to handle in some places, like the smaller parts of my car. But I can imagine that once you've used one a few times it would become a doddle.

Great little machine to be starting out with.

Coupled with Menzerna compounds and polishes and CG Hex Logic pads and you'll be all set.

No danger and reasonable results.

Can be quite tiresome due to the vibration but you'll have to learn to live with that with a DA polisher

I use a Dodo Juice Spin Doctor which is a solid piece of kit and works well with various compounds :thumb:

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'll go with a DAS-6 pro bundle from cleanyourcar with the Menzerna compounds and Hexlogik pads.

Got some time off mid March so will wait until then to give it a go, well maybe ��

Just watch when you first start to use it, after the first few long periods of use there has been issues with the grease in the head melting and coming out, just keep some paper towel around and wipe it from time to time,
I know it was a issue a bit back, but I don`t use DW now so not sure if it still happens as much.

Once you've given it a whirl you wish you'd got one years ago (I know I did :lol:)

also see if you can beg or borrow a paint depth gauge.

As above Das6 are decent machines for the money if the money is no object then forget them and buy a Rupes lhr15es mk2 there incredible I don't own one myself but my mate has 2 and done plenty of cars the results are incredible and very safe but if not stick with the Das6 brother has one and he likes it and detailed a few cars with it now also using CG hex pads and menzerna products

Or do it properly and buy yourself a rotary and not live with the inherent DA haze :D

The rupes 15 with the Megs microfiber system is the way to go, it has almost as much cut as a rotary and will finish pretty well. It has a 15mm throw so has that little bit extra so it performs better than an ordanary DA. Get yourself a bit of training with a 'good' detailer as you will learn in a few hours what will take you a few years to master on your own.
