Classic abw arches (advice)

Cars booked in for 17th to have abw arches put on. All existing arch where necessary will be cut away.

So my problem is I really want to stick to 17s. I've seen some 17x9j et 50 will they work. Or what would you recommend

Thanks

Et50 will look lost in the arches, probably need something like et20 to bring the wheel out enough to fill the arch

Mate your not going to have much wheel choice in the 17 inch rim for a size that will look good under the abw arches,I would think you would need a 17x9.5 et25 to fill the arches out properly, that's why a lot of people who get the wide arch mod done move to 18" wheels as there will be much more wheel choice in those sizes and look better as the wrong size design 17" wheel would be lost under those arches and look pants!....SJ.

OK thanks for your advice I will be going to 18s I've been on japshop website and they offer 18/9.75j et20 will those foul the arch?

I have the ABW smaller 25mm ones and have 9Jx17 ET 30 team dynamics pro race 1.2 wheels. I have had extensive front and rear arch work done as well as cut front and rear bumper to accomodate this. In reality you will need an ET20 wheel of using the larger arches on a 9J rim. There are some pics of my arch work in progress in my project thread.
In terms of wheels you can go to Rimstock direct and they will make wheels like the Team Dynamics pro race 1.2 in whatever ET you want and they are around £140 per wheel. If you want a contact drop me a PM.

Hello arch thanks for the advice. Yeah I have the wider arches of the 2 ideally I would like 17s but if I have to go to 18s I will. I'll pm you now :)

You will struggle to find any decent wheels in 5x100x17 fitment. Other than the usual gash like xxr etc. There is a very limited selection.

I'm going to be running 17x9 et10 on my wider abw arches. They are going to be touch and go as to whether they stay inside the extensions!

I refused to go for 18s and am doing am 5x114 hub conversion to accommodate a bigger selection of wheels

Am I right in thinking that your car is for track use? See I wanted 17s because of the old rule of 17s for go and 18s for show. But then I think to myself I have over 520ftlb and nearly 500bhp so would an extra inch really make a he'll of difference on the road obviously I'm fully aware that on track and drag strip it will make a lot of difference.

my car is road use too. Driven too and from track etc. It is no trailer queen...!

An extra inch makes all the difference, ask my missus....

The handling is noticeably affected with 18s. It is harsh enough on 17s. And the tyre flex gives alot more predictability out on track.

I run 530hp and 500ftlb, to be honest I wouldn't want 18s.

So what's wrong with TD Pro race 1.2's ?

Tyre flex is the last thing you want on track !

On track maybe. But he was asking about road use.

I would always want to use 17s.

I don't like them personally, they are common imo. Good quality wheels, but one of the only 17" gc8 fitments that comes in decent widths
