4 years to first MOT
 

Just wondered what people think of not having an mot for the first 4 years?

4 years is standard in many countries. Why not?

I think it should be about millage not time its like my hatch says the timing belt change is 66000 no time which i thinks a load a crap to cos what if it stood for years

I'm not sure if its a good idea, alot of people haven't got a clue, a rep could get over 100,000 miles in 4 years.

Every TWO years is standard in Europe, afaik, but having been promised that when we got the much stiffer MoT's, it was quietly withdrawn, just like the proposed motorway speed limit increase to 80mph, also inline with much of Europe.

Sadly, the road safety crews have too much influence in the UK.

It says 3 years on the link in Europe and Ireland.

We were also discussing time between inspections, annually or bi-annually.
it's bi-annually in lots of EU countries, with a stiffer test. We got the stiffer tests, but the road safety bods got the bi-annually thing thrown out.
