Which brake package 04 wrx 294bhp daily
Hi guys
Im in need of some brake discs and pads to go all round thats adequate for my needs/car. I have a 04 wrx running 294bhp and 300lbt. Most of the roads i get to drive on doesnt require often braking so they need to work good from cold. Atm im thinking of two options, http://www.scoobyworx.com/4-pot-fron...ge-12231-p.asp with the black diamond predator pads. godspeed brakes http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/273-package-deals- (grooved or hook version) Or some oem discs with pads that you recommend? If anyone has had any experience with the links above please share. Hoping to order this wknd! Cheers :) https://www.scoobynet.com/images/cit...ser_online.gif https://www.scoobynet.com/images/cit...ons/report.gif https://www.scoobynet.com/images/cit...ttons/edit.gif |
I have yellow stuff mads in mine with STi Brembos & uprated discs, They are terrible when pads are cold.

You can do a lot better than Black Diamond Predator pads.
Recommend Carbone Lorraine RC5+ or Carbotech XP8/XP10. The XP costs more to buy but is extremely long-lasting. Both are a million miles better than Black Diamond, or Yellowstuff, or OEM. I have read good reports on PF Z compound as an upgrade over OEM but not tried them personally and I would not expect them to perform as well as the pads above. IME pads make much more difference than discs to braking performance...the SWRD or Godspeed discs will be fine. |

RC5+, not RC5. Note that RC5+ give quite a bit more dust than OEM. XP much cleaner and longer-lasting. Kevlar and Black Diamond is equivalent to OEM quality...you'd equally as well served getting some cheap Pagid pads from ECP to see if you get on with that level of performance.

Thanks. I'm guessing the kevlar pads in the godspeed package mentioned won't be much better than the predators then?
Il have a look around for some rc5's. Cheers |
The kevlar pads are aimed at a certain style driver , if that's not your style then they will not be suitable for you , they work very well for there intended use.
We can offer our discs with all types of pads , our favorite pads are the CL RC5+ , very good pads hot or cold , but can be squealy in slow traffic low pedal pressure , if you don't mind some noise now and then , you will not get a better pad for the money. We can offer you our front and rear G hook grooved discs and CL RC5+ pads for £475 delivered Cheers Ian |

I had them on my WRX and also STi, found them way better than OEM. :thumb: |
Thanks for the input Ian I was planning on contacting you after I had started the thread.
Due to having to drive around town in the week, I think the slight noise will do my head in over time. Norman, good to hear. I did think from what I had read that the kevlars are better than oem. And have read many good reviews. Il have a think over the week and pull the trigger at the wknd |
