Outback H6 EZ30R Engine out head gasket change

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all.

2006 EZ30R, 107K miles, right hand head gasket blowing into coolant.
After a couple of days of badly scuffed knuckles, a used can of penetrating fluid I've made up some new swear words that rhyme with Subaru and Outback.

Attached photo of progress so far. I'll use this as a checklist so any other tips welcome.

To do.
Remove heads and send to machine shop.
Clean and de-rust everything.
Fit thermostat.
Oil filter.
Plugs.
Air filter.
Belt.
Water pump.
Replace left hand steering rack gaiter.
Check valve clearances.
Replace all the timing cover bolts with stainless steel.
Replace the crankshaft oil seal.
Replace the bearings in the idler and tensioner.
Refit both heads with new head gaskets and copper spray stuff.
Replace sump gasket.
Clean piston heads.
Clean all valves.
Replace exhaust gaskets.
Replace power steering O ring and seal joint with sealant.
Replace broken top cooling pipe (Subaru part 14070). Maybe re-braze it.
Clean up the threads on all studs and engine mounts.
Thoroughly flush the coolant paths in the heads, block, heater, gearbox oil cooler.
Recharge oil.
Recharge coolant and water. Add Subaru conditioner?
Tidy up PITA gearbox oil cooler and bolts.
Continue to try and buy Permatex Right Stuff liquid gasket in the UK. I'll use the Ultra Grey if I have to, if not.
Replace all four anti roll bar bushes.
Maybe replace all four drop links.

Missed anything?

Cheers.
Looops.

Check crank for wear and that it's within tolerance... replace crank and rod bearings... unless you fancy doing it all over again in a month or two. :thumb:

Oh and new head bolts, ARP would be my choice.
