The rear arch replacements sold on Ebay tend to be wafer thin. Which is OK if you are a chav that wants to botch something.

Fantastic line!

Yeah the Scooby is a bit of a chav chariot!!

people with rusty rear arches on their classics - I am in your situation- what should I do?

jaygsi 16 August 2017 05:18 PM

Depends how bad they are? Need to make sure not rusted strut towers away.

I've just put my rear struts back in and I didn't notice any flaking etc., but my rear arches are definitely rusted. Lets say worst case scenario, what would my options be? and what estimate cost? there's no timescale on this.

Cheers for any info

Ash

Heyup! Do you know if he'd be able to sort something for a Forester XT 2005? Or if they're more or less the same thing?

:king:

Wurzel 10 October 2017 01:52 PM

My MY2000 is at Scoobyclinic as we speak having both rear arches done.

Quick update on this for everyone. I've messages Ray about these and they don't make the inner arch anymore. Only the outer.

This is a shame!! Especially as he told me they were working on something to replace right up to the shock turret, guess that won't be happening now.

750-850 a side depending on how bad they are. Mine were pretty bad but apparently not as bad as some for the age of the car.
They fabricated new inner arches and they look stronger than the originals so hopefully it should last another 17 years :D

jaygsi 12 October 2017 09:52 PM

Left hand on mine isn't bad, and right is worse buy only outside. Was quoted nearly grand for both. Insane amount. As another guy quotes me £150 a side.

The thing with bodywork is that you get what you pay for. £150 a side might seem reasonable but then you will find in a year or 2, the rust is back.

jaygsi 12 October 2017 11:43 PM

Agree and won't be going for that. It needs cutting out. But still nearly s grand is insane. And that was me supplying the new arch for one side. I spoke to one guy who does body work and he shocked at the quote.
