had good intent but apparently Obamacare didn't really change much sadly ( asked my Pa whos lived usa since end the eighties)

Yeah not much, just 20,000,000 people with insurance that didn't have any and the ability to get coverage with a pre existing condition, nothing.

My fathers wife works in healthcare as pyshio . Inclined to side with her on this one over the headline figures . who knows , maybe shes wrong

the problem as I understand it was that it was still left to "the market" to deliver the "cover" required by the ACA (Affordable care act)

so all the insurance companies did, to cover the actual increased costs (pre-existing condition etc) was to increase premiums for people who already had insurance

so to many it was a real "hit" to subsidise other people (an anathema to the yank psyche)


anyway here is a great graph that put our NHS into perspective

it is still very efficient - we spend less but give 100% coverage - not perfect but pretty good
