Defi Gauges - Fitting - Birmingham / Midlands Area.
 

Hi,

As per title really, Can anyone recommend a place to get my gauges fitted ?? And what sort of price should I be considering ??

I brought a set of Defi STI Genome gauges last November and I just haven't had time to get them fitted :cry::cry:

To what car? Do you have all senders and a pod? what gauges?

I have a 2005 STI, 60mm gauges and a box full of wires and senders with the pod.


I have a multi meter and I'm sure I could tackle it myself but not had the time since November hence the request for a reliable fitter.

I fitted my own back in the day and intend to do so again.

On the blobeye you can tap power/ignition etc. from the clock which the pod replaces.

You need to ensure you've got either a sandwich plate for the oil temp sensors or the adapters to fit them to the block.

Have a chat with Mark at TDR. He'll get them in no probs providing you have all the parts needed. TDR is on the outskirts of Warwick. Marks a top bloke.

I did think the power and illumination could be picked up using the clock as it has all the required feeds :thumb::thumb:


I just need to remove the ECU monitor and see it the wiring for the clock is intact, struggling to get the pod out, is it just a really good pull or something else ??


Is the sandwich plate the large circular part that the seller told me goes under your oil filter ??

Seriously, the gauges you have are accurate, placing them anywhere other than where Subaru designed them to go would be a folly.

The longer piece goes in where your current oil PRESSURE warning light is, under the alternator, front of block, and allows you to have the defi gauge remote and also syill have the warning light, (which is useless, hence mine is removed and the Defi sender fitted where it was;))

The smaller part is an adptor to allow the Defi TEMPERATURE sender to fit in the tappings on top of cylinder No3, which has been identified as running hottest, hence the best place to look at oil temp.

Please don't spoil the job by placing the sender, or allowing anyone else to place the sender, in inappropriate positions.:)

Where abouts in Birmingham are you, Mark? I could always offer some advice locally.

The clocks can need a bit of tugging, but if you remove the vents below you can see some of the clips I think (been a while!)

Yes, sandwich plate goes between the oil filter and engine.

Give pole position uk a try....They are in willenhall near walsall! They are a good garage and recently did some work on my type r!

They do all sorts of work and are subaru specialists!

Cheapest I can find, they have gone up considerably in the last three years, used to be 2/3 the price.

where are u mark? ive just fitted mine and working fine , if your local I could give u some pointers so to speak.. learned one or two things along the way, was rewarding to see them light up and read ! all in a couple of short hours. send me a pm if u like.

I'm based just outside the city centre in Edgbaston mate.
Had some great advice the other night from ScoobyDoo69, still not 100% sure about doing it myself, well the mechanical side under the bonnet especially the oil sensor that requires the intercooler to come off.
