So who's got their winter/snow tyres fitted then?
 

Not me!!!! haha. Never got round to fitting my winter wheels back onto the FSTI, so currently running my summer XXRs with the Yoko Parada Spec 2 tyres on. Last time I drove on snow with these tyres it was terrible, no grip at all in snow.


In theory we are getting snow this afternoon and again tomorrow morning after a freezing night, so we'll see!

In actual I doubt we will get any snow that settles-at least in the south of England anyways...

I'm excited for the snow-bomb! if it happens....

But as said above, I'm in the west mids....so will be shocked if any snow settles. Got my other wheels with semi slicks on the garage. I'll put those back on about March time I think :)

Yep I agree. Forecast to rain all day and then flurry with snow for a few hours from 4 here. Which means it won't settle.


Is then supposed to freeze tonight and snow again tomorrow for a couple of hours from 7am. If frozen then it may settle, you never know.


But... like always, it probably won't actually snow.

Has winter actually started yet? I've only had to scrape the frost off the windscreen once so far :)

You're lucky. I've had a good few weeks of scraping ice of the screens of our cars on and off.

Winters not remotely close to being over yet dudes. Remember in 2007 when it snowed in April? Like proper foot of snow?

I've had some ice to scrape off a few times this winter, but in the last 15 years I think there have been about 4 times when I've needed some snow tyres. So I'll stick with my really filthy AS 3's.

Put my Nokians on at the beginning of December. Not due to the snow but the temps - designed to be at optimum grip/performance below 6c.

It snowed here 3 years ago and my neighbour couldn't move his XKR for about 3 weeks. He went and replaced it with a brand new LR Defender. It hasn't snowed since!

Unless your in scotland i doubt it will happen. gets said every year and then nothing comes of it.

They were saying its tonight but when you actualy check local forcast (rather than headlining the worst conditions thats in 0.000000000001% of the uk) its a light dusting if any at all.

I'm not saying this thread but I've seen countless online where people say winter tyres are useless etc etc. but they live in South of England. It snowed decent here last night but a few years ago it was shocking. I don't use the impreza during winter but the daily driver always gets winter tyres.

My local forecast says "Very Heavy Snow" and I live 350miles south of Scotland.

He has a winch and everything. Fantasises about rescuing stranded motorists and pulling cars out ditches etc...

Love it. Just makes me giggle.

Chatting to my neighbours (who own a ford kuga and BMW x3) last night. They said that when it snows I'll regret not buying something a bit more sensible.

Have you every tried proper snow tyres? They do actually make a MASSIVE difference. Very clever design of treads to actually hold snow and allow the tyre to bite. They give you real confidence compared to standard tyres.

when it lands we'll see if it is heavy.

I've got some on but I very much doubt it will stick.

are snow tyres different to winter tyres?

Not so much these days as technology has moved on. There used to be significant differences between the 2.
