Salt Lamps

What the hell is it with people banging on about these. I keep seeing things on FB from friends who think they somehow have health benefits.

Scientifically proven to be basically a lightbulb (sorry, I mean lamp) and an almost inert lump of Salt that do nothing apart from provide mood lighting, what is the craic and am I missing something here??

You mean this type, Torquemada? Doesn't have to be Himalayan one:

It may have some health benefits for what we know, but it's one hidious looking thing! I wouldn't want it in my house, no way!

had one for years, I didn't buy it for any health benefits, I thought it looked cool and glowed up a nice orange colour.

Anyways and only recently it leaked water.. True story, as it is salt it seems to absorb moister from the air and then when the room temperature changes it leaked all over our solid wood table and ruined it.

Stripped the wax right off and left a stain which only a full sand down will bring back, ruined !!

Fired it in the bucket after google search reveled they leak and make a mess.

Mind you it did sat there for a few years before ruining my table, So not sure if they have a shelve life sort of speak?

Indeed, those Himalayan jobs. Lump of salt with a light inside it.

lol, yeah I am not a fan of them either in looks but each to their own!

A couple of studies into them have shown they do pretty much nothing. My fiance was saying "what's the harm, if people believe in it" as she knows they do nothing but the power of positive thoughts is a good thing.

I just hate that people profit off of what I personally consider BS. :thumb:

Gross, not what you want happening. Yeah I guess they may operate pretty differently depending on the environment!
