which sports car <£30k

Scoobynet masses. Suggestions please after something fast, fun, good looking, good sound track, capable of some ring time, and flying there and back on autobahn.

Has to be little to no depreciation.

Currently no1 content is c6 z06 if i can find one

history
classic scoob sti
e46 m3 550 bhp
e36 m3 evo race car x 2
tiger zr6 300 bhp race car
tvr tuscan

Short list:
C6 Z06 - looks good
C6 Vette Grandsport - not sure i can find one in budget
C63 AMG - Auto box and taxi looks put me off
E60 M5 - always wanted but never bought. Love that v10 sound but its boring
997.2 911 coupe - probably not in budget
E92 M3 - not really any different to my previous cars so whats the point
997.1 911 coupe - too much engine failures
Aston Vantage Coupe - too slow / not sporty enough?

Whats your vote and am i missing any :)

Cayman

JGlanzaV 05 January 2017 07:37 PM

My Classic would show anybof them a clean set of heels on track and could be quite comfortable with some better seats.....

and youd still have 18k left to spend on fuel....

Moley 05 January 2017 08:14 PM

R34 GTR would be a good option, although many (or most) are over £30k now

I keep looking at RS4's but put off by running/repair costs

I'll freely admit I bottled buying a B7 RS4 i favour of another scooby for the same reasons.

I tested a couple and both had issues. One was OK and had a nice pace to it but miltek exhaust droned too much and the CEL came on on the test. Second I tested was noticeable slower and the seats didn't work (Sport mode) it was also averaging 9mpg.

Only thing with Carerra's is that if I had one I'd always be looking at GT3 and turbo longingly and wouldn't be satisfied.

C6 Z06 would be a bit special IMO. Probably quite flawed performance wise but would be more of an "event" to drive. The "event" thing for me is important and another reason why, to me at least, I felt that a really nice scoob would be more of an event than the RS4 (they both sound great IMO) and perhaps a little tiny weeny bit of "look at me" factor. :)

Here you go, should be interesting enough for you. :D

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...-650ps/6525294

TBH though if it were my money and I was interested in going to the ring on a regular basis I'd be more inclined to buy a Spec C £10k tow car/ van (probably a van for me) and trailer and any change would be for set of slicks and wets.

If you're gona do it may as well do it properly.

scoobyc 06 January 2017 02:56 PM

probably cause some offense / debate here:

TVR T350 - Just sold a tvr so nope
Lotus Exige - not gt enough
Lotus Evora - very good, but not enough go for me for my budget
Jaguar XKR / XKR-S - like but too lardy
RS4 - to dull to look at and drive
RS6 - to dull to look at and drive except straight line after 750bhp remap
Lotus exige s. not gt enough
Aston martin DB9 - too gt
Skyline GT-R R34 - i like it i will look into this further
pork - engine failures at my budget and not enough go
scoob - been there done that
supra - not for me. my tastes have moved away from 90's jap

On-the-bog 06 January 2017 03:09 PM

doubt a decent r34 gtr will be in your budget of 30k tbh

yabbadoo4 06 January 2017 04:00 PM

another couple:
maserati quattroporte 4.2
honda nsx
alpina b5

yabbadoo4 06 January 2017 04:01 PM

yeah not many r34.s at 30k

yabbadoo4 06 January 2017 05:02 PM

noble m12, this ones lovely, bit over budget but not by much http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...s-blue/6629052

jonnyricer2 07 January 2017 12:29 AM

R32 gtr!!

njkmrs 07 January 2017 02:11 AM

SLK 55 AMG..

john banks 07 January 2017 12:33 PM

Was going to say R35 GT-R as I sold mine at 6 years old with 25000 miles for £37k and thought would be in budget, but they still seem not to have fallen since I sold mine almost 2 years ago.

lozgti1 07 January 2017 08:27 PM

Sports car IMHO,two seats,no roof

i do like the m12. Think I prefer the z06 though

scoobyc 07 January 2017 08:43 PM

Elise is a no.

Nsx i I don't think is in budget anymore? And certainly doesn't have the firepower I'm used too.

R35 would be great. I've been watching the prices and not dropped a penny!

2009 onwards slk 55 would be great. Apart from the depreciation.

Aston vantage is so temping. Shame I don't have budget to supercharge one!

sl55 is too gt

maserati too gt

lozgti1 07 January 2017 09:01 PM

F type ???!

yabbadoo4 07 January 2017 10:26 PM

AMG C63 C Class 6.2 ? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...--2012/6528581

Dingdongler 07 January 2017 11:00 PM

I currently own a c63 amg and have owned a f10 M5 and RS4. None of these would be any good for track time.

I'd suggest that you need to increase your budget significantly beyond £30k to tick all your many boxes

yabbadoo4 08 January 2017 02:04 AM

seems like the z06 is the nearest one for your needs. i think this one would do you : http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...te-z06/6623490

scoobyc 08 January 2017 09:56 AM

Yes just waiting a reply on the c5 regarding import cost as it's not yet imported.

Id also rather stick to unmodified.

20-45k seems to be no mans land for the petrol head.

Next up the list would be 997 turbo and r8. But i don't want either enough to get a loan. Ferrari 430 is the dream but they are so far out of reach now!

scoobyc 08 January 2017 09:57 AM

Shame 911's are so much. I'd love to find what the fuss is all about.

ditchmyster 08 January 2017 10:42 AM

Took me 2 mins to find this one, I know next to nothing about Porsches, but with dealer warranty, fresh brakes, very low miles and a healthy chunk of cash left over as a contingency fund, I'd be willing to take a punt if only to tick it off the list and find out what all the fuss is about, there are literally hundreds of Porsche 911's for sale under £30k and that's just on auto trader. :thumb:

The Pink Ninja 08 January 2017 11:06 AM

You'd need another £10k for a good r34 gtr but it'll be money in the bank at the end of the day.

Cant stand the 996. Tested one before I bought my e46 years ago and was totally underwhelmed. Would have tonne the 997.2 or a 997.1 with new engine.

Perhaps i in need to build my own car. Porsche with an ls engine could be fun. Probably cheaper to just buy a vette though!
