Looking fwd to anything new this year. :thumb:

Obviously the cars not happening

JackClark 01 January 2017 12:09 PM

Don't give up on the car thing just yet, it's a nice nut to crack and Apple could do it.

stevebt 01 January 2017 12:18 PM

Start the year as you mean to go on :)

I might be in the minority here,but....

I really cannot get excited about mobile telephones or laptops and who is the bestest.

What did we all turn in to

Computers are my job, it helps if you don't mind talking about them.

lozgti1 01 January 2017 02:49 PM

lol.Law is mine.I avoid it like the plague :)

Looking it it from an idiots point of view,if the battery lasts a good while,I get my emails,I can send texts and maybe surf the net,all without hassle,I will choose that make.

I fell out with apple because something was so wrong with the battery life and I had two old iphones just shatter when dropped.

If every maker kept it simple, they would make a fortune from the 40plus year olds :) and the kids, generally,we aren't interested who makes them

lozgti1 01 January 2017 02:49 PM

Just IMHO

JackClark 01 January 2017 03:24 PM

It's all good. I'm sure you keep up with the law and discuss it's merits and detriments somewhere, hope so anyhow.

dpb 01 January 2017 04:22 PM

Probably not on a percentage though

Dblock 01 January 2017 05:15 PM

I'm not a huge fan of apple but, I do have an iphone and I wouldn't want to change for a few reasons.

I thought about getting an android as they have better tech for cheaper. I still have an old school 5. But they lock you in with apple like iMessage is great IMO yes you can use whatsapp but everyone I know has an iphone too and I only have wifi at work. Second thing is my headunit only works with iPhones or iPods. Plus the high end androd phones are just as expensive as the apple products. But I do want a bigger battery, at least a 1080p screen a headphone jack, quick charge etc etc.

But apple could release at 3310 and people would buy it and praise it. I want apple to compete again.

On the bright side, you're using a five year old device, that's awesome, any new device of the same level will be leaps ahead in performance and battery life.

On the not so bright side, headphone jacks are a dying breed, you need a huge screen before you need 1080p.

You should look at a 6s, a great upgrade and a good price now the 7 is out.

I know but when you look at andriod devices (medium) ones they have all that for a couple of hundred quid. An iphone 7 2nd hand is stll £400.

I'm still running iOS 7.0.1 lol. I might just get the battery changed for £30 and be done with it for another year. I know someone who was still using an ip4 until recently. If it works it's all good though I suppose.

dpb 01 January 2017 09:01 PM

id ask opinion on 6s before you do anything

maybe its time to jump ship , get some excitement in your life

imessage is a total pain imo .

My family are much better off than I am so my brother has the 7+, my brother has the 7, my mum has the 6s+ and one of them has a 6. I need 64gb of storage. If the 5 gets me another year from a new battery hopefully 6 prices will have slid down by then.

Can I ask why you don't like imessage? I think it's one of the better things on the phone.

dpb 01 January 2017 11:03 PM

I don't find it reliable if you've dodgy network ( I don't think theres seamless transition to sms), And anyway iv had unlimited texts for at least 10 years

I can see the point if you've always used apple stuff I think .(not me)

but WhatsApp is cross platform ( most people don't have apple)

Valid points, but I don't have those problems.

One thing I do hate is apple or android fanboys, its like it's just a phone who cares lol. I also don't get the point in apple computers like macbooks etc etc. Why are they so expensive yet they seem to sell like hot cakes?

dpb 02 January 2017 03:59 AM

Robust hard and software at a guess. And if you're a fanboy it only makes sense to stick with same platform for everything

Well I'm the other way around, I have an android phone as I can't justify the cost of an Iphone for the amount that I use a phone, which is hardly ever, I only really have one for emergencies and to keep in contact with family and friends occasional call and text maybe one of each a week :lol1: but I do have a Macbook Air which I've had for almost 6yrs without one single problem in all that time (touch wood) had many microsoft based products from various manufacturers before that and had nothing but problems, seemed like everytime I wanted to use the computer there was some sort of problem.

Love my macbook mostly because it just does what it's supposed to everytime I switch it on, don't care who makes it or what it costs, I just want it to do a job, I'm not interested in how many features it has or how much ram how fast it is etc etc, I don't play computer games and resolution of the screen etc is unimportant to me, I just want the bloody thing to work when I switch it on without any problems and that's what my Macbook does, so I'm a fan. :D

I'd suggest not hanging around here too long, we have a fanatic.

I got a Dell and Windows 10 last year, it was a pain in the arse and still is a pain in the arse each time I turn it on... which is rare thankfully.

But it has two ethernet sockets and you can use it in the rain, you can't do that with a Mac.

dpb 02 January 2017 12:16 PM

you need Ethernet ports in the field
