coolant gurgling
03 blob wrx
when i first start my blob i can hear gurgling coming from behind the passenger side of the dash, the car does use some water (cant find a leak) is it possible the gurgling could be the coolant system needs bled? engine temp and heat from the heater is fine. :wonder: |
Mine done this after I had a different turbo fitted, there's air in the system. Run the car from cold with the expansion tank cap off and heater set on hot, run car at idle until warm and that should get the air out, keep an eye on coolant level whilst it's idling and top up if needed.

as mentioned, cap off and idle till the fans have come on and gone off twice, don`t rev the engine during this time at all.

Are you saying mine has been faulty from new then?

Mine didn't do it until I had the turbo changed then noticed that gurgling noise done some research and figured I had air in there so bled it and no more noise. When it did gurgle at start up my car still ran fine and never overheated etc but I knew it shouldn't be doing it, no ones saying anyone's car is faulty if it gurgles etc just it's got air in the system somewhere and a 10 minute idle with the cap off will get that air out and be as it should, I'd rather get rid of that gurgling noise for peace of mind but that's just me.

which 1 is the expansion tank? the 1 nearest the throttle body or the 1 down by the rad?
also my driveway is on a bit of a slope..........does it matter? |
Yeah you need it level, not the one near the radiator.
