My head is swimming. I just can't get over all these iconoclast deaths in 2016. :wall:
Fifty-bloody-three. That's all. RIP Weird, that you have two British music icons top and tailing 2016. Mind, there's still 6 damn days left.......! :cuckoo: |

Drugs, sycophants, the struggle with mental illness and his initially hidden sexuality all added to his downward spiral to death.
Cranked out some good tunes but hardly David Bowie. Sad though. |
|
Hopefully the tortured soul is now at peace.

Awful news. What a handsome man and a groovy musician/dancer that I had his poster in my room in my youth. As a heterosexual young fan, I was very upset to find out that he was gay. Later on, after hearing what a dysfunctional soul he was, under a calm persona, I was very sad for him. Shocking to know that he has died at such a young age. A children's charity is claiming that he donated millions to the cause, which included all the royalties from his Jesus to a Child song. He had been donating without making 'look at me, how fekking great donor I am' noises, which I take my hat off to. George Michael, you will be sorely missed. Thank you very much for the great music you are leaving behind for us to be entertained with. Rest in Peace.

Next headline will be from the kids he touched .. the world has ruined my faith in everyone.
But I do get what you're saying. Posthumous accusations, defamation and legal action against celebrities have become quite fashionable these days. I really hope that GM is no Jimmy Saville, |
Apparently GM quietly donated to many random charitable causes and events, not just children's charity e.g. Childline etc.:

I never met him, but knew a couple of people who were friends with him
they all said, within the confines of being human i.e. no one is perfect he was a really genuine and caring guy |
Saw this on Facebook. First link was to a tweet from him saying that gay sex was normal and he wouldn't apologise.
You reap what you sow..... Cue the liberals to berate me...have at it lads. |
Facebook is inundated with the links to this sad news and his songs. Shows what a big personality he was. The sadness due to his sudden death seems to linger on in my heart. Any action I take e.g. posting on the happy turkey thread or perhaps cracking a joke elsewhere later on, I continue to feel the sadness inside me. That's how grieved we feel at the loss of someone we have admired as a world stage personality or a talent since our youth..
Shows that the historical connection with our choice of music is a huge deal for us. I'm sure many of you, when you feel sad on such artist's demise, feel the same. I often don't know them or do not have the same connection with many of those artists you know. I feel very saddened by the deaths of the likes of Michael Jackson and George Michael because these musicians' fantastic music echoed endlessly in my ears during my adolescence. |

Edited to add, I would have respected him for an apology for his drug abuse though. That behaviour from a role model portrayed completely the wrong image. |
