Wheel offset

Hi. I have a 1994 imprea. I've got wheels from a 53 reg which are catching the rear arches when corning hard. I have the 4 pot brakes fitted. So my question is what size offset wheels do I need so they don't catch but will fit over bigger brakes?

Cheers pete

Stock suspension? Or coilovers?
I've never come across 205mm tyres contacting the outer wheel arch - I'm assuming your using '03 newage wrx wheels - 7 x 17 et55?
It's the shape wheel spokes, that dictates clearing the 4pots.
Are your rear bump stops/dampers OK?

Not sure what model the wheels were from. The shocks are pretty new with standard springs. Would it be possible to fit Camber bolts to put a bit of negative camber on to take top of tyres away from arches?
what is et 55?

You could use camber bolts on the rear for clearance, but the last thing you need on an Impreza is more rear grip - which is what you'll get if you add more rear camber.

et is the wheel offset in mm. Smaller the number the more the wheel sticks out toward the outer arch.

Subaru wheels are normally et55 et53 et51 et48 - it's normally stamped on the back of the wheel, along with the wheel width and diameter.

Can you post a pic of your wheel?
Is it either of these?

Looks loads of room. So no idea why there catching? Springs could be weak

Why wouldn't you want more rear grip?

The Impreza understeers, more rear grip, in isolation, means more understeer.

You need to find the width and et stamped on your wheel.
Unless someone recognises the wheel?
At the rear, on a stock car, its normally 360mm from wheel centre to the metal of the arch - what you got? May be 340mm, at the rear, if lowered.

Cheers mate I'll check tomorrow and let you know. Do you know what the et should be? Suppose Google will know haha

et55 or et 53 should be ok for 7" wheel
et51 or et48 should be ok for 7.5" wheel
