What drop links......
So it's time to renew he ball joints and while I'm at it track Rod ends. I have replacement whiteline rear drop links to put on at some point but thought I'd look at replacing front at same time......to discover I have no idea which front links I'm meant to be buying. The front drop links are like nothing I've been told I need but am I just being really stupid.
As a note the damp is where I've been spraying with wd for last few days to help the process go smoother :) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...202e974a80.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...7a27ea7bf2.jpg Assuming they are standard it's v1/2 (phase1) 96 impreza. Been told it should have alloy arms but others say only sti or jdm have alloy....... I know they aren't alloy arms but should they be and that's why I'm looking in the wrong place. Seems like an obvious answer to what I need just need reassurance |
Those are not standard drop links

Whiteline used to do a wire front drop link as well although it's now discontinued. If there's no play in the bushes I'd leave them.

Well I never knew they did the front link like this. I'll check the bushes when I take the ball joints and Rod ends off next week. Will be replacing the rear plastics for the whitelines tho, cant decide to replace the arb while I'm at it :/

Fronts were the figure of 8 style, rears were a wire "C" Shape as shown in the diagram above, commonly known as "pigtail style" droplinks. They now only do the solid alloy ones that you've linked to. Solid ones are probably a bit better but unless it's a serious track toy or you want the bling or they're knackered I'd stick with the poly bushed wire ones, will still be an improvement over the standard rubber bushed plastic ones.
