could somebody measure an 18" wheel for me and tell me how wide they are....may seem a stupid question but my 17" ones are over 17" wide
all I need is the rims not with tyres thanks guys |

Think its 7.5 or 8 J
Could be wrong |
should have said wheel diameter not width

Correct yes but kinda useless,
When would you need to know the area or circumference of an alloy ? Think he was after the width and offset, like 7.5J, ET46 etc. :thumb: |
|
all great stuff but all I was looking for was the width of a tyre rim which is 18"
are they spot on 18" or wider ???? |

Generally, 'most' 18" alloys are produced in 7.5J and 8J widths (7" and 8" respectively). But, of course, any given manufacturer can, and sometimes do, make any wheel in multiple widths, for different applications (within reason, of course).
So it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type question. |
lets try once again guys....I want to know the width of an 18" wheel....
so can somebody just measure the width / diameter and tell me what they are.... I don't want the width as in 7-5 etc take a tape measure and let me know the width of the rim without tyre size or make are they 18" or wider ???????????/ |
Lets show you again
18" from what i read is the inner diameter. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...ae8ec78053.jpg |

I have 17" on my car and if I measure the width of them they come out just over 18" wide which is way I would like to know how wide an 18" wheel is
width as in 7.5" I am not worried about just the actual diameter of a rim..... |
If your measuring the outside facing you then obviously it will be larger as its from where bead of tyre sits :)

Obviously all gona be slightly different depending on style,
Bit of a useless dimension really imo |
Pictures are the only way to the bottom of this one.

can somebody measure me an 18" GT1 wheel and let me know the diameter of them.....
|
My 18" Prodrives are 19" approx,
Still useless tho can you explain why ?? https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...0e43c06e62.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...1c860887f2.jpg |
But if you measured it like you should its would obviously be 18" :)

18" = 19.2" with 40mm profile tyres. |
I think the clue is in your tyre size.

The extra diameter is the lip that stops the tyre coming off which is not included in the measurements. Inside the lip, inner face to inner face, is 18 inches. The red marks on your picture.
Still be within a few mm of each other tho, I'd guess Like you says all the info is on the tyres, There's a reason that there's a standard way of measuring a wheel lol |
i have just purchased a set of GT1 wheels and was looking at the 17! ones already on my car and wondered how much room there was to play with...
that's why I was asking !! |
