Wet shave recommendation
 

Not used electric for years.No good even if you spend £200 on one IMO.

Yes,got a proper real razor and blades but only use at the weekend(if you dont take your time with it,blood everwhere.lol).Normally in week though just use Gillette Mach 3 and shaving soap,have done for ages.

So many on the market (razors)now though.Fancy a change.Any recommendations? Cheers

Can't imagine ever using a bic again.

Usually end up with a bic, after its probably done the rounds on every female's (in the household) legs

You can use it with foam or gel, which I do. :thumb: then rinse under the tap.

I use Wilkinson hydro 5, has a built in sideburn trimmer they are not cheap but I buy them when they do special offers on them.:thumb:

The best I have used are the Wilkinson Swords blades, followed by Aldi own brand and then Gillet Mach 3.

All that involves buying and carrying foam and individual blades around everywhere ! Sod that

Wet and dry electric all day long. Shave in the shower, the bath or with ordinary soap and warm water over the sink. No fuss, no rash, and no messing about with replacement blades or foam and the rest of that malarky. £50 to £100 will buy you a good Braun 3 or 5 series if you shop around, which will last you years and do a perfect job every morning. Other brands may work as well, but will definitely not have the same bulletproof reliability (I have an old Braun "Sport rechargeable" in the bedroom cupboard I got as a birthday present in my late teens, and it still works perfectly some 30 odd years later).

For a decent wet shave you can't beat 40 - 60 grit sandpaper lightly dampened, to finish it off just use a bit of fine wet and dry around 2000 grit.

Mekur Futur , simply the best , get yourself one for Xmas it's all you will ever need & if you sign up to the shaving lounge you will find there prices much much cheaper than anywhere on eBay or the high street

I have a Merkur 38C. My brother has a Slant one. I used to use treet platinums and he uses feathers. I don't shave anymore but cost is way cheaper and there is no problems with it. People are scared of straight bladed razors for no reason IMO.

Also they are like a trillion times cheaper than gilletes multi bladed cartridge razors.

I couldn't get on with the Merkur Futur - but i think mine has a fault as the blade get wasn't equal.

If looking for an adjustable, why not pick up a vintage Gillette slim / fatboy or black?

If you are above 38, you can actually source a razor which was made in the quarter you were born in which is quite cool.

I use a cut throat that my grandad left me - Took a few years to develop the skill but nothing gives a closer shave. Do not use on the ball and crack though.
He also left me a washable tie-on condom - All rolled up and french talc'd .That also took years to perfect the rolling on and tying the perfect knot without the bow swinging between my knackers and lassoing them - Always seemed to happen on the vinegar stroke.

Can just see someone employing cut throat razor + similar above bleary eyed 6am before rushing for the train .

Lol, my old man used a safety razor and wilkinson sword blades all his life every single morning, he also had a cut throat razor, every weekend he had many friends that would come round for a haircut and shave, saturdays were like a barber shop at our place when I was a lad, always scared the crap out of me when he got the cut throat and leather strap out, then told me to hold the strap (which was actually the cut off from an old miners belt) while he whipped the blade up and down it a few times, talk about psychological torture. :lol1:
