TDR BUILT 10 SECOND TAXI
Mia's Ten Second Taxi
A little project thread of my build which is now at its first stage of the planned spec. The thread title refers to the fact the cars main use is ferrying my teenage daughter (Mia) around as the Mrs cant stand going in it and much prefers to travel in our old diesel Peugeot work horse lol. She hasnt and refuses to go in the subaru since having the new setup installed, It was previously running 481bhp and she hated it then, the performance, lairy looks, the noise and the attention it sometimes brings, so pretty much everything about it lol. As stated above the car has now reached the first planned stage of the project with another 2 stages to come over the next 18 months or so. Ive just had the car mapped after completing the run in period on the newly built motor. The current power level is 630/600 without been pushed too hard and there will be more to come once i get used to the power level its now producing. The cars main focus is as a fun weekend road car thats track and drag strip capable with a full sq audio setup a must. I would like to say a few thanks to some of those who have helped my along the way getting the car to where it is now. Mark at TDR (Thwaites Developments) who built the motor, has helped me all through the build with getting the car setup and has done all my mapping on this and my previous projects with great results. I have honestly never met such a friendly, honest and genuine bunch as those at TDR. Their workmanship is also first class and Mark is very knowledgeable in all aspects of Subaru and dosnt deal in jargon or bull**** which is becoming rare in the motor trade in general lol. Alyn at AS Performance who carried out some of the engineering work and supplied me with most of the parts of my build, he's a busy guy but always found the time to answer my many emails and calls and has offered great advice and knowledge along the way. Everything always turned up when expected and packaged carefully. Another nice and genuine guy to deal with. Steve at SMG/Roland Alsop who prepared the block for me and went out of his way on a couple of occasions to help me out. Great knowledge and workmanship and another friendly and genuine guy to deal with. Banny who has been a BIG help with info and helping me source things along the way, He's also a genuinely friendly nice guy too even if his mean exterior says other wise lol. Also all the other members on here and over on 22B who have answered my questions and offered help and advice along the way :thumb: The current spec is 2004 STI 2.35 EJ22T CLOSED DECK BLOCK WITH UNDER PISTON OIL SQUIRTERS REAR THRUST CONVERSION CARRIED OUT BY AS PERFORMANCE 14MM HEAD STUD CONVERSION CARRIED OUT BY AS PERFORMANCE BLOCK REBORED AND HONED BY SMG / ROLAND ALSOP BLOCK MACHINED FOR EXTRA ROD CLEARANCE BY SMG BLOCK HALVES CLEANED AND FACED BY SMG MAHLE 2618 POWER PACK PLUS STROKER PISTONS MODIFIED BY SMG CARILLO CON RODS EJ257 HEAT TREATED CRANK OEM MODIFIED WATER PUMP RCM UPRATED OIL PUMP RCM BAFFLED SUMP PLATE RCM HEAD GASKETS RCM CAMBELT KIT WITH UP RATED KEVLAR BELT LIGHTWEIGHT PULLEYS SAMCO COOLANT HOSES ACT EXTREME 6 PUCK SPRUNG PADDLE CLUTCH ACT PROLIGHT FLYWHEEL JDM BIG PORT AVCS HEADS REBUILT AND MODIFIED BY TD RACING ALCATEK ECU WITH ANTI LAG AND LAUNCH CONTROL ENABLED THERMAL INLET MANIFOLD SPACERS SCOOBY CLINIC GT35R BILET PLUS TURBO ( 9 BLADE WHEEL ) K & N AIR FILTER WITH 4" ALLOY INLET PIPE RCM ROTATED UP AND DOWN PIPES RCM UNEQUAL LENGTH TUBULAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD TIAL 44MM EXTERNAL WASTEGATE APS 3" RESONATED EHAUST SYSTEM LARGE CUSTOM MADE FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER AEROMOTIVE BILLET FUEL RAILS SYTEC FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR TEFLON BRAIDED FUEL LINES WITH TORQUES AEROQUIP FITTINGS BOSCH INLINE FUEL FILTERS RCM 340 LPH IN TANK FUEL PUMP FEEDING SWIRL POT 2 X BOSCH 044 FUEL PUMPS FEEDING FUEL RAILS FUEL INJECTOR CLINIC 1650CC FUEL INJECTORS (ALL FUELS COMPATIBLE) BOOT MOUNTED CUSTOM MADE 2L SWIRL POT OBP MODIFIED BAFFLED CATCH CAN WITH RETURN TO SUMP LINE PERRIN 4 BAR MAP SENSOR APEXI 3 PORT BOOST SOLENOID BRAIDED COOLANT AND OIL FEED LINES TO TURBO RADIATOR COOLING PANEL WHEELS AND SUSPENSION OZ PRODRIVE P-WRC1 18" ALLOYS (BRONZE) WITH NANKANG NS2R TYRES BILSTEIN B14 COILOVERS WHITELINE 24MM REAR ANTI ROLL BAR AND UPRATED BUSHES WHITELINE DROP LINKS WHITELINE ANTI LIFT KIT WHITELINE ROLL CENTER CORRECTION / BUMP STEER KIT HARD RACE PITCH STOP AND ENGINE / GEARBOX MOUNTS INTERIOR 2005 REVISED CENTRE CONSOLE JDM RED HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH DEFI STYLE SPEEDO CLOCKS WITH OPENING CEREMONY DEPO STEPPER MULTI GAUGE HOUSED IN DRIVERS AIR VENT AVCR IN OEM UPPER DASH POD ( USED AS AN EASY TO READ BOOST GAUGE ) KEY OPERATED SWITCH IN CENTRE CONSOLE FOR ECU MAP SELECTION FIGHTER STYLE TOGGLE SWITCH TO ENABLE ANTI LAG ECU TO LAPTOP CONNECTION PORT IN CENTRE CONSOLE CUSTOM ALUMINIUM BILLET GEAR KNOB PROJECTOR PUDDLE LIGHTS IN FRONT DOORS FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN PASSENGER FOOTWELL EXTERIOR ZUNSPORT BLACK FRONT LOWER GRILLE HT AUTOS FRONT LOWER SPLITTER CUSTOM FRONT BUMPER AIR INTAKES WITH INTEGRATED LIGHTS CARBON DESIGN WIPER ARMS STI MUD FLAPS AUDIO SYSTEM PIONEER MULTI FUNCTION MP3/IPHONE HEAD UNIT RAINBOW SLX 265 DELUXE FRONT COMPONENTS IN STOCK LOCATIONS RAINBOW REAR COMPONENTS IN CUSTOM OEM LOOK PODS JL 12W6 SUB IN A PROFFESIONAL TUNED SLOT PORTED WEDGE ENCLOSURE GENESIS PROFILE 2 AMPLIFIER GENESIS PROFILE 2 ULTRA AMPLIFIER GENESIS PROFILE SUB MONOBLOCK AMPLIFIER REMOTE BASS CONTROLLER HOUSED IN CENTRE CONSOLE FRONT DOORS AND BOOT FULLY SOUND DEADENED AMPS HOUSED UNDER CARPETED FALSE FLOOR IN BOOT DENALI SOUND BOMB COMPACT AIR HORNS A few pictures, I will upload some more and add to the thread over the coming months as the mods progress. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...ae479313cd.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...6b22991957.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...c3f60b01f3.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...3c54e238d5.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...c71fa08598.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...15889a8978.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...1b246c12e7.jpg |

Thanks guys. Just need an improvement in the weather so i can go out and play.

|
Really humbled by your words Dubz, just doing my bit to help genuine people build their dreams. Really pleased how its all come together for you and look forward to see it kicking ass on the strip :)
|
Lovely, :notworthy any 1/4 mile times in its current spec?
|

Thats what im most looking forward to mate, I think Shakespeare raceway is done for the year now so wont get to do a run for a while :(
No not yet buddy as ive only recently had it mapped. I was doing 11.6 consistently in its former spec at 480bhp. I am always amazed at the difference between newages and classics. With 10bhp last year (490) more I am almost dropping into the 10s (11.06) on an unprepped concrete track. So with the meth map and 40 more hp I should be there. But a newage with 640hp will struggle to get to a 10! |

Its sound like on a good day with minor adjustments you should hit the 10's as you are as your within touching distance. Im not sure what time i could mange in its current spec although im curious to find out. With an extra 10% power and nitrous on top and removing the weight from the boot i hope to be in the 10's :thumb: |

Very good spec and looks tidy n all enjoy :)
|
Stunning :cool::cool:
Saw this car during its run in period when I picked my alternator up, looks amazing. :thumb::thumb: Figures ended up a little higher than what I recall you saying you thought you would get ?? :norty::norty: Mark. |
That engine bay is stunning, seen it wen I collected alternator.
Attention to detail is second to none, well done on a stunning build Paul |
Thanks guys, still a few bits and bobs to do in the engine bay to keep me occupied over the winter. I just have to try and convince the Mrs to get in it now lol.
|
That's a great build Paul, bet it's agressive as feck!
|
Im not ashamed to say that it feckin scared me on the way home after having it mapped, it was dark and the roads were damp but i was obviously curious lol. Havnt had a dry day yet to have a decent play but yes mate the torque delivery feels brutal :D
I was very pleasantly surprised at how good she is around town, very smooth and much nicer to drive off turbo than my last setup. The anti lag is a lot more fruity now too lol. See you at TOTB next year :thumb: |
Lol, I know the feeling, I got a bit scared when I first drove my car after being done (never drive a classic before) and that was only at 400+.
Yours at 4200 ish makes just over 200hp and straight to nearly 600 at 5000rpm lol, that's sick. Got a boost graph? Them 9 bladers get some nice figures including spool that I've seen for a gt35. Yes deffo mate hahaha. (I'll let you beat me :)) |
Its the response of turbo that has impressed me the most, Andy F had previously mentioned this to me and he was spot on, there is almost no waiting time when you go back on the throttle. On my previous setup i would just time the delay in response and get on the throttle earlier but this setup is just instant, feels insane mate and just eats up the gears.
We will be on the same team buddy :thumb: |
I do like the reviews on them tbh. You would expect lag but that isn't really laggy at all, and good it's an on/off turbo would make it nice for tracks and sprinting etc.
|
It dosnt feel laggy at all mate, on the road it spools earlier and sees 1.3bar at 4k and max boost soon after.
