I popped out to my garden for about 5 mins today and it was bloody freezing :(


I hate the cold and so made the big decision - I've cancelled my Criogenic arrangements. I am also worried that my driving licence will no longer be valid when some Martian wakes me up.

I want to spend my hard earned on keeping warm not cold :)

We had a snow warning yesterday, but it never came. Bitterly cold alright, though.

Keep warm, and always go out with an extra pair of gloves with you. If you see anyone freezing out there, older and homeless people in specific, give them that pair. There's a drive going in Bristol, I hear. Some charity is collecting your discarded warm clothes, blankets etc. to keep Bristol warm. I think we can do it directly ourselves in our own areas, if we counter the needy people without offending them. Don't let yourself or anyone freeze this winter.

HMG will happily allow many to freeze as the money is needed for essential items such as HS2 :(

I am in North Wales, David. To be fair, there aren't that many people even living here (there isn't much to do here), and homelessness is not really seen around here. But there's hidden poverty in West, in general. One doesn't have to live in a card board box here to be poor. But then comes the dignity attached to it.

For example, we do have big number of pensioners staying as long as possible in the pubs during winter, with just one pint in their hand all day. That's because they can't afford to keep their bungalows warm. Not that I'll go buy them another pint, but something like this does need to be helped by the government. You can't go to them and say- "Hey, if you're too cold in your own house, here's a fiver to stick some gas in your meter." That would seriously offend them.

But if I see any street-wise homeless one in Wrexham and Chester, I'll definitely try offering them my second pair of gloves, if they accept.

Oh, good.

That's why, we all, as individuals, can help other individuals directly; without making a big deal of it, and without having to pass our stuff to other charities to further distribute it.

Mind you, the donation for this should be directly asked from the charity shops. They cull massive amount of second hand clothing, bedding etc. on regular basis, and most of them sell them to the recyclers to make money from their unsold clothing/bedding. They have a capacity to direct the bulks to other charities that are catering for the homeless.

It has been a minging day today with constant, freezing rain. The darkness of the night isn't looking much different to the lightness of the morning that we woke up to. It was like Shetland here all day. I hear that in some months, all they see is dark skies there in Shetland.

Wet is worser than cold :(

Truly awful all day in Leic. Almost rivers across the roads. Like it was the end of the world.

Had to jump start the car in the pouring rain, this morning. Which is nice.

Imagine the rain and the darkness of this sort lingering on for a few days. It will make people feel more miserable than they already are! It needs to go.

Cheer up miseries! GB is green and pleasant thanks to the rain, without it we'd be living in a desert. In a previous life I used to spend many weeks and months abroad in debatable parts of the world. Flying home that green coastline appearing far below was always a quiet pleasure. :)

Desert is an extreme contrast, not applicable here TBF.

So yeah, we're cheered up alright, no worries. Today is a tad lighter day here. We were just talking that yesterday was a misearsble day indeed. More misearable for the ones trapped in the floods. It was splattered all over TV, not making it up.

Anyway, one dark day or a few dark days aren't the indication of Britain being misearable all year round. No one said that. In fact, the Summer this year was so good that I think I should have gone away in Winter for a long stretch, not in Summer.

Yes, rain means greenery, and yes, this country is very pleasant in general; climate-wise.

Green is indeed great. If you can see it / touch it
