2005 ppp brakes
Hi
Ive recently bought a 2005 wrx with ppp and the brakes are shocking so want to upgrade the brakes but not sure what to go for any help or ideas much appreciated |
Go for brembos off an sti, make sure you get a set that match the pcd your car has and if you use the rear brembos on a wrx, you'll need a bigger handbrake pad set or discs made by godspeed (this is due to the fact that sti discs are larger on the rears than wrx, 190mm vs 170mm)
|
If you're running the std wrx wheels then the brembos won't clear them according to what I've been told on here. You'll need to either use STI wheels or find a set of 17" that will clear or go 18".
Have a look at the thread I started, some good info in there. Thread title "brembos" |
I am running the standard wrx wheels for now but will be going to 18's start of next year but im keeping the 17's for track use

One of these will help as it reduces the flex in the bulkhead when using the brakes hard. |

If you're thinking about track use then forget the standard 4 pot set up, minimum is going to be Brembos but then you'll need STI wheels as a bare minimum / cheapest option and by the time you've shelled out for buying them refirb, helicoiling, new discs, pads and wheels they fit under you'll be most of the way to a set of AP4 pots, which will fit under standard WRX wheels and are better than Brembos, as well as being worth more money when it comes to selling up time. ;)

Ive been looking at the k sport 8 pots with a 330mm disc but at the same time the 356mm an just get 2 sets of 18's a new set for road an a cheap set 2nd hand set an put some track tyres on them
|
Problem is 18's for show 17's for go, and again by the time you've shelled out for that lot you're back to the price of a set of AP4 pots, which are bay far a more superior set up and actually desirable and worth more come sell up time.
But hey, it's your money bud.:thumb: |
Oh i know what your saying ditchmyster think im going to bite the bullet an get a set of ap4 pots loads of people have said to get them
|
Again have a look on my thread and on the links for the godspeedbrakes.....good info on them as well

Hi
We have some offers on at the moment with the kits we make with Brembo 4 pot calipers to fit under 17" wheels , they are not the STi calipers , and both kits will fit under your standard WRX wheels , will be no problem with others. We offer 2 kits , one with slightly larger calipers and pads than the other. The first kit is this one Attachment 28856 330mm 2 piece discs and bells , Monoblock one piece Brembo 4 pot calipers , choice of pads , DS2500's are popular , alloy mounting brackets and hardware , this kit is available with red or silver calipers , we can powder coat them any colour for extra , the pad size on this kit is 125mm long and 52mm wide We have this kit on special offer for £899 The other kit we make , is the same size diameter at 330mm , but with a larger monoblock 1 piece 4 pot caliper and wider pad area on the disc to take a larger STi size pad , the pads are 132mm long and 59mm wide Attachment 28857 You will notice the bell diameter is smaller compared to the one above , calipers are similar but you can see the differences. This kit is slightly heavier , but is aimed at the harder driver or harder track use , we have also supplied both kits for competition use , and with the right pad for the application they are more than up to the job. The larger kit is £999 , again with silver or red calipers , can also powder coat them any colour for extra. These kits are very good value for money , and perform very well , as good as a same size kit with AP calipers , which we also supply. All the pad manufacturers make performance pads for them , so you won't be limited on pad chioce Hope this helps Cheers Ian 01656 723060 |
