Brembos

I've done a search and I think I found the answer, but I'm wanting to double check before trying to buy but.......

Do the Brembos from the STI clear the std WRX wheels?

stealthbomber 31 October 2016 09:26 AM

No they won't. Simple solution is to fit sti wheels. The rears use a different handbrake drum too, iirc Godspeed make a conversion kit to enable sti brembos to fit the wrx.

Bummer!!! I seen them kits, i did see there is big brake kits that do clear the 17" wheels but pricey.

Wull 31 October 2016 09:53 AM

Another Q.....

If I were to fit 18" and went for a big brake kit will all the 356mm kits clear the 18" wheels?

stealthbomber 31 October 2016 03:51 PM

It's down to the offset of the wheel rather than the diameter that governs fitment.

Matty81 31 October 2016 09:27 PM

I'm gonna get a hispec big brake kit. Can't be bothered with all the messing about

stealthbomber 31 October 2016 10:07 PM

Just make sure spare parts and pads etc are readily available :thumb:

Matty81 31 October 2016 10:13 PM

I've seen hispec products available on the interntet so fingers crossed they will be bud

Are these the ones that fit under the 17" wheels?

Matty81 31 October 2016 10:21 PM

stealthbomber 01 November 2016 11:07 AM

Have you looked at the godspeed big brake conversions?

Matty81 01 November 2016 11:09 AM

Yeah I have mate. And I no that they are supposed to be good but I wanna get rid of the standard calipers if I can bud. I've been shopping around and I'm looking at £1300 easily for brembos which s what I really want

There you go, they're smaller than the sti brembos so will fit under your wrx wheels.

Argh yeah just seen them, Cheers guys :thumb:.

I've got 18" wolfrace rims on mine but I'm assuming that the 330mm kit will fit my 18's ?.

Also don't you get a discount for being on scoobynet aswell ?

I think that's the set I'll go for, I fancy keeping my 17" wheels and these should be a huge improvement over std and will look great.

HI
The good news the kit linked above we have on offer at £899 at the moment , as we have brought out another kit using a larger Brembo 4 pot monoblock caliper , which uses the same pad as the STi calipers , the discs are still 330mm , but has a smaller diameter bell , and more available pad area on the disc , the new kit with larger pads is £999 with PF Z rated pads
Attachment 29276

You can see the difference in the caliper , discs and bells compered to the link above

Its £35 more if you want CL RC5+ pads , we can supply these kits with any make and spec pads , prices vary depending on what pads you want.

Both these kits will fit under the standard 17" WRX wheels

They are very good value for money , and work very well .

Cheers Ian

Matty81 01 November 2016 03:37 PM

They do look nice I have to admit. And at a cheaper price than to some of the other places I've been quoted. Do the calipers come in red aswell ?

Godspeed Brakes 01 November 2016 04:03 PM

Yes calipers come in either the silver or red as in the photo , for £50 extra we can strip them and powder coat them any colour you want
Cheers Ian

Just buy a set of Ap's and be done with it.

Matty81 01 November 2016 04:45 PM

Haven't got £1800 for them at the moment mate

bummer, personally i'd just save your pennies, do it right once rather than pay 50% then 100% if that makes sense.

Other option is something like D2, stay away from Ksport though.

Matty81 01 November 2016 04:51 PM

Yeah I no what you mean bud.

Like the sound of god speeds package though, with the brembo calipers Godspeed discs and PFZpads though

Sounds like the old GT kit.

Matty81 01 November 2016 04:56 PM

They do a new one now apparently with bigger brembo calipers. More like the sti versions

D2 , K sport and XYZ are all the same kits made in the same factory , just badged up differently

Similar in that it uses Brembo calipers , both the kits we sell uses larger calipers than the GT ones , then the discs , bells and brackets are made by us

Cheers Ian

An AP kit , with 330mm discs and 4 pot calipers , like the CP5200 calipers will work no better than the smaller Brembo kit we make , the larger Brembo caliper one will work better than an AP 4 pot kit.

So you're spending a lot more money for nothing

nikon-man 02 November 2016 07:50 PM

I have brembos on my hatch front and rear and they are awesome .... stops very quickly and safely even from high speeds
