Cheers

lol don't get even close to that. Fair play mate

I don't understand how you can't get 20mpg? Do you do lots of very short journeys or got lead boots? I never failed to get less than 28mpg over 8 years of driving a standard MY99 Uk turbo.

Tank is 60 litres on turbo cars, although there appears to be some confusion and perhaps its 50 on early/special cars.

The fuel light would come on with more than 10 litres left in it for me, as I'd never get much more than 48-50 litres in it. Running it too low will cause fuel surge on sharp corners though, so good reason to fill up sooner.

Not sure you can post links, but here goes:

Neither do I lol but it is quite short journeys in stop start traffic. Just to give you an idea a full tank in the city is about 180miles. However have notice it go up more when doing motorway stretches. When my light comes on I get about 20 miles out of it.

Could be my driving too. But then I didn't buy it to get amazing mpg. Bought it because of boost lol. Car is far from standard.

Just worked it out and its not too far from official figures works out at about 14mpg in traffic. My original response was light humour :thumb:

I see, does it go to the top when full? I'm not sure the needle should ever drop that low, even if the sender is broken. Perhaps the needle is bent so it always reads 1/4 less than it should be?

Any pics of these stock my99/00 cars as seems to be rare sight now

Has the cluster ever been changed or removed to fit a tracker because the needle could have been knocked.

The light normally comes on when it reaches close to the bottom line. On a full tank it is just above the top line.

It never quite reaches full its half way between 3/4 and full when full the clocks were changed on it a couple years back by previous owner

That would explain it. Should be quite easy to fix. Full tank it and move the needle manually. But make sure it has stopped moving because its a few minutes to adjust to a full tank.

tjmatt 25 October 2016 01:24 PM

Its been a year since I've driven it, but I think mine would sit just slightly above the end point, and I could get 30 miles or so before the gauge would start to move. So they are all a bit rubbish, but it sounds like yours is permanently offset slightly from where it should be. Perhaps it was damaged on the clocks being changed. Were they changed like for like? or was it to do a phase 1 to phase 2 dash conversion?

Dunno how to work out mpg but usually get 200 miles outa full tank at 400 bhp

NOSSY_89 25 October 2016 02:32 PM

If anyone is interested.

Matty81 25 October 2016 02:42 PM

I get roughly 25.8mpg out of mine and that's 16miles all round for my daily commute.

A 60litre tank sounds about right for a turbo Subaru mate

albob 25 October 2016 06:33 PM

My MY00 wagon = 25/26 around town : 29/30 on a long run
