Yes they aren't hardcore racecar but sometimes when I've finished work I'm tired and just want to get home. If I commuted in my Impreza I'd be broke and would have to sell it. Plus you can have a more "hardcore" weekend car and take it easy in your EV.

But that's about economics allowing you to then run a proper car :)

Don't get my wrong,if I could get an electric car for the boring hour and a half 10 mph journey to work for not a lot and spend money on a nice real car then I agree (save I'd worry about using the electric windows and everything else electric ;) )then agreed

Just saying generally,they aren't like real 'cars'.Just IMHO:thumb:

Not as dumb as it seems, in the long term. Less wear and tear on each car so should retain their value better and last longer, and if one of them is zero-rated for tax, the only real additional overhead is the extra insurance.

I did that...bought a £200 MK2 Polo..did 15,000miles in 12month with it over two years and then replaced it with a N13 Sunny which I did the same over another year. Both averaged over 40mpg on the daily commute, and were cheap to tax (both below 1300cc ).

Meanwhile, what happened to the scoob?

It just sat there never being used. Really couldn't be arsed to drive it so was a waste of tax and insurance!

These days I say sod it to the running costs, and look towards drive something interesting on the daily commute, albeit with a sensible boot (hatch/estate)....then its something to enjoy on the way to/from work :) Afterall, if I can't afford it, I shouldn't have it anyway!
