Wull's WRX wagon

Hi all, picking this wagon up on Thursday and I can't wait.
I've not got any major plans for the car so I'm just going to enjoy it over the winter then decide next year if there's anything I'll do. I'll probably go for bigger brakes and possibly coilovers but i'm undecided about chasing more power. It's currently running 280 ish, it's got the PPP package with a further map so I'd say at the very least it's running 265bhp. Very nice, tidy wagon you have there :thumb:

Sweet. Interesting splitter too :-)
I'm just about to buy my old 05 plate WRX PPP Wagon back off my sister after 3 1/4 years,....for my wife. Looking forward to it. |
Looks tidy, but the first picture clearly states 224Bhp. :D

First mod to the wagon if you can call it that, I love my cycling and there's no way I was sticking my Saris Gran Fondo bike carrier on the back......so this was a must.
Thule roof bars and Thule bike carrier, expensive but rock solid. Good bit of kit. |

That escalated quickly....
"It has PPP and im not chasing any more power" To "How much is 500hp....?" Lol! |

My plan was to buy another car you see with a bit of power, a bit mental and keep this as is but I've been thinking for ****s & gigs that maybe it would be fun going down that route with this. I also have the opportunity to purchase a Golf R next year but tbh I'm not sure about that now. |
I was also just after a rough idea of cost. I'd probably happily go to 350-400 but the problem with that is I'd need to go 6 speed from what I've heard so even that's going to be costly for what it is. The money ain't an issue, it's just at what point is it not worth it.

It all depends what you want to actually DO with it?

No intentions of tracking it, just for the road. Do you think the 5 speed would do the trick if it wasn't getting the arse ripped out of it? I could go to 350-400 and see how long the box lasts then swap it out if it failed.
What is the point in having 500hp and not using it? You cant use anywhere close to 500hp on the road, you need to think about track days and sprints etc.... |

No I doubt the 5spd will cope, youbwill end up with a 6 spd anyway so it will save on labour costs to do it all at the same time.

What would you say is the ideal bhp for the road then? Useable power? Not interested in sprints or track days, not got the time tbh. Maybe way down the line but with my work commitments and cycling it's a definite no go for all that stuff.
You need to be seriously considering drivability and usability, you want quick spool with it hanging on at the top end with lots of torque. Bybthe time you have 500hp on song its time to slow down again.... |
In the end up the Wagon has become more of a daily for the wife and myself but I'm still planning a few subtly changes.
Firstly though, the crap brakes need dealing with so I'm going to go with a brake kit from Godspeed brakes. Question is, what colour calipers should I go for? Now the car currently had the calipers painted blue which means if I change the fronts to a different colour I'll need to paint the rears to match. The general feeling I get from people is that blue is definitely not the colour to have, most have said to me "wtf, blue!" So I'm guessing that's not the colour to go from. What do you think? Cheers |
