Engine installation
Hi Guy's,
I'm installing an engine for the first time and I'm having trouble with mounting it to the gearbox. When I lower the engine to line up with the gearbox the engine mounting bolts are stopping me from pushing the two together and if I raise the engine to clear this the gearbox doesn't line up causing an an infinite cycle of frustration lol. Can anybody help me out? Is it ok to jack up the gearbox? Is anybody near gosport that can help me out? All tips are much appreciated and thank you in advance for your feedback. |
Jack the box up a bit not as far as it can go about two thirds.

Jack the box until it just touches the body work, you need to get the angle of dangle right so the gearbox input shaft mates with the clutch before the engine mount studs foul on the subframe. The studs on the engine mount have a small unthreaded part, you can file a bit of that off which will give you another 5mm of clearance but shouldn't be necessary.
