newage boot lid struts

Hi

Has anyone fitted gas struts to the boot lid, or even know if its possible.
I have removed the spoiler and obviously had to remove the torsion bar springs that help it open other wise i would loose me teeth every time i opened the boot.
Thing is i would still like it to open slightly when the handle is pulled otherwise it means getting your fingers under the edge every time and lifting it. .... and its pretty heavy with no springs aiding it.

Just fit WRX springs, they are not as strong as STI springs.

U funny guy:D

Get one of those ducktail carbon fibre items light looks well and you could use the hangover nit as a handle :thumb:

Seriously...the torsion bars have different operating tensions depending on the spoiler so if you took a set off a car that has the small ironing board spoiler they would work fine ;)

Ironic but true :lol1:

Hahaa I thought he was joking bro!! Another wrx/sti bake off!!
If that's true then it would definetley be the simpler and cost effective option indeed:thumb:

No joke, when I fitted the STI spoiler to my WRX I also changed the springs to STI springs as the STI spoiler is a LOT heavier than the WRX one.

The WRX springs are fine for a spoiler-less boot.

cheers. was a bit or a bitch to get fitment correct. But got there in the end. Still needs a bit of tweaking. I am guessing this came from carbon fibre creations as i got it second hand. Its not perfect as the laying of the carbon matte isn't the neatest especially along the spoiler lip edge. But i guess its kind of what you expect from someones "pet project" its not exactly like buying a "seibon" carbon product, but still not bad for the money.
