Just had my wheels refurbished and thought best to change the tyres at the same time.

Changed from Kumho KU39 to uniroyal rainsport 3, which seemed a very good deal from Camskill.

1st impressions are that i have made the wrong decision as the car feels a bit unsteady and that's not pushing things too much. I am hoping that when they scrub in they are better or maybe more tyre pressure, currently 34 all round.

Anyone else feel the rainsports are unsteady?

What choice should i have went for as can't run these if they don't improve?

Anyone rate the Vredestein Sessanta's, do these have stiffer sidewalls?

It's come out thst they are not suitable if you speak to camskill, didn't believe it till I called them. Is it on 17's? I've got 225/40/18 and find them ok, grip is good but you can feel the flex in the sidewall still. Running 34psi all round also. If it was something I was going to really push rather than being a daily I'd not use them again. Grip is very good still but I'll not buy them again for an impreza

Interesting read, my mates just put RS3 on his 16" RA wheels TODAY and says theyre exactly the same, the sidewall makes them totally unpredictable.

Tyres are 225 40 18 on a newage running around 400bhp.

Its only a weekend car, so will give them a few weeks before I decide to throw the towel in and replace them.

Got these on my car in same size, cant knock them puts down my power no problem

Ive recently bought a spec b legacy which had rainsports on (225/40/18), not blown away by the grip in the dry, but they do let go predictably, wear out pretty quickly too. In the wet theyre very good though (as youd expect from the name i suppose).

The fella i bought it off used to work in the alps in the winter and said theyre a really good compromise for the snow without going to a full on M+S tyre.

Might be worth sticking with over winter and replacing when (if) it gets warm again next year.

ive found them to be very good on my missus 207 thp in both dry and wet weather.,

+1 here :) on the 3rd set and I'm not the only one who lovesthese :D

+4 ive got them on my blob and find them great in wet and dry. Wear rate is also good compared to previous p zeros. Had a nail in side wall a few weeks ago and managed pick a new one up for £70 fitted 225/40/18

not suitable in what way?

I would also say these are better than the Toyo T1R i had on before in wet or dry.

I have Uniroyal rainmax on my work van and they are great, I feel confident in poor conditions

I've had 2 sets of Sessantas on 2 Imprezas and they are great, loads better than the Bridgestone RE050s and Toyo T1Rs that were on the cars when I got them. I removed the RE050s with 4mm tread on and gave the tryes to a Scoobynet member that needed some for an MOT :thumb:

I have RS3's on my 474bhp Type R - to be honest I can't really fault them at all and I have been on about five 600+ mile "spirited" road rallies around the Scottish Highlands & Wales. Only went with them as there isn't a lot of Premium tyre choice at 215/35/18 - but to be fair the weather in this country errs on the side of wet more than dry and they are a very capable wet tyre - but they have also done very well in the dry. As said above they let go predictably.

Just about anything's better than those. Fooking scary in the wet. :eek:

Very true Norman...I've had them in 16" and 17".....16" I thought they were quite good but 17" downright scary even in the dry when driving spiritedly.

To do with the soft sidewalls and the curvature of them also is the response from camskill who got that from continental who make them.
Like I say I really didn't believe that till I called them as I thought it was very unlikely that a tyre manufacturer would say that

ooooooooooooooh, I was fancying a Uniroyal set for my Hatch 245/35/19's

but now am put off if the side wall flexes more than normal.

Other option.. AVON's?

First ive heard of this and im on my second set. Same size on my mates 315bhp cupra. No complaints.

For the price. Try them if u dnt like dnt replace with the same.

Last 3 sets of tyres i've bought have been rainsport3's - two of those sets have been on my classic - i did opt for the "XL" variant though which allegedly has stiffer sidewalls - they have better fuel economy rating and higher noise rating than the other variants so are easy to spot on the listing at Camskill.
Can't fault them but have heard poor reports on the non-XL's which i'm hoping the OP is referring too.

They're a good tyre. Uniroyal tyres are made by Continental if anyone didn't know. Camskill are expensive though!

I buy mine via a trade-only purchasing platform, which gets tyres shipped direct from the continent, so unfortunately I can't post a link as it's an "invitational" type affair.

But even before I got access to that, Camskill were never the cheapest in my experience. Try Tyreleader. They were always usually the cheapest for me, then subsequently I signed up as a Business user on there and got a further discount, that was when I was invited to sign up to the other place.

Just put a set of Nokian WR4's on my Forester. Very good tyre. Sidewalls are soft, but they are predictable, wet grip is excellent and for a winter tyre, the dry grip is very good, even now in September when the roads are still a bit warm.

Just need a bit of snow to test them, supposed to be excellent in the snow!

I recommend them.

The rs3s = good in wet, nothing else really, can't really compete to some other tyres out there for dry.

I'd buy a set just for wet wether trackdays etc

Tyre leader were more expensive by around £5 a tyre when I was looking, camskill were the cheapest I could find not being in the trade

I have used Rainsports 2s & 3s in 17 and 18 inch sizes for general driving on previously owned Outback, legacy Spec B, VW R32, Audi TT and now my WRX and found them to be a decent tyre giving good grip in the wet. I visit the peak district regularly in the winter months and the roads there can be very treacherous at times and I have never had any issues.
