So I find myself appreciating a good watch as I get older and wiser. I didn't use to be bothered about them, but now i'm starting to look into a decent watch to last me a long time.

Ive had a few Rotarys over the years and to be honest they've been ok, but the build quality hasn't been that amazing (the strap disintegrating etc).

Ive been looking at a few Citizen Eco-Drives etc but anything really up to the price point of Omega Speedmasters.

Basically, i'm looking for a good all rounder. Not too massive, just something thats built to last and looks well.

Recommendations?

I've had Tags before and they served me well, but I'm into Seiko at the moment, it tells me the time and very solid watch, don't get me wrong id love a ROLEX LOL...

my Latest is the one on the right, Its fully Automatic, IE no Battery just Movement of wrist and if needed windup, but I've never had to wind it yet..

I use these guys in China, all legit stuff just a lot cheaper.

Seiko do the Astrons which are 1500 quid, and they also do GRAND SEIKO which are 1000s.

My new ceramic Seamaster Professional. The lighting conditions can make it appear a very dark navy blue to a nice rich lighter blue in direct sunlight. Take your pick:

Both are great looking sporty diver watches which can be worn to almost any occasion IMO.

Older and wiser you need keep watch the old ticker

This is my Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm that i bought 2 years ago, i love it.
Its not worn as a daily which makes it even more special when i get to put it on.

I hear the Seiko is a bloody good watch though.

I have a citizen Skyhawk titanium that I wear day to day and is a great watch. Think it cost £500. No battery, powered by light and is unbelievably accurate. Because it's titanium it's really light, but still chunky looking.

I have also just bought a brietling super ocean heritage for 'good' days which I love. A proper divers looking watch. I went for the mesh strap.

I can recommend either of these watches highly, particularly the citizen.

I now need to stop buying watches as I think I'm at 7 now lol.

awesome watch and will probably outlast me. Never needs a battery, world time, perpetual calenadar and as accurate as many waches costing much much more money.

Iconic watches and Precision time are great shops to buy from. They buy from ADs in the EU so still have a valid warranty. Prices fluctuate a lot so keep an eye on what you are after and pounce when the price is right. My Hydroconquest auto came from PT and I saved a significant percentage off the UK retail price. It originally came from Gibraltar.
You miss out on the buying experience but to save £200 off a £790 watch I can look past that.

Sorry Ascottie but that Omega of yours is stunning. I wouldn't be too worried that it wasn't the Rolex you like. Rolexs are nice watches but everyone always assumes it's a fake and it is quite cliché. That Planet Ocean just oozes class.
