Turbo choice.......

So i think im in the market to buy a MD321T.......

where is the best best to buy one of these from?
its going on a 2 litre so im guessing the smaller intake is probably better for this also

any other turbo choice people would consider instead of this one?

stonejedi 17 August 2016 11:09 AM

What power are you looking to achieve?.SJ.

Gava 17 August 2016 11:14 AM

i want to get into the 400s, this car is a weekend toy mods at the min....

vf48
fuel pump
standard 550cc
full de cat 3 inch system
front mount
tubular headers
uprated air intake

made 353bhp

so ideally a turbo and some 750cc injectors hopefully should see me there

Ash Webster 17 August 2016 01:08 PM

you might need a 3 port and a fpr also

SmurfyBhoy 17 August 2016 02:02 PM

Twin scroll borg warner but would need to be custom job

stonejedi 17 August 2016 02:07 PM

Yours is a big borg tho,

They must do a smaller 400 bhp version eh ?

banny sti 17 August 2016 03:57 PM

smallest one they do is the efr6258 which they rate to 45,0 but in the real world will probably do right around 400

bustaMOVEs 17 August 2016 03:58 PM

Sc42 £1620 new

With loads of spooly goodness

Gava 17 August 2016 04:30 PM

already have a 3 port and want to be in the 400s and it pick up like a train as its only my weekend toy

SmurfyBhoy 17 August 2016 04:32 PM

All depends on budget,

Proper Billet 20g around £6/700
Sc42 around £1600

Or custom setup unsure on cost but wouldn't expect change From £2000

Dont forget your harvey up pipe as well for the free spool gain

imprezagaz 17 August 2016 04:33 PM

I've got an sc46 on mine now and love it. Had a sc38 on before and there isn't much in the lag. Especially if you have the supporting mods on a 2 litre

Gava 17 August 2016 04:34 PM

so is the sc42 better than a MD321T?

budget will be for either as its a project she gets the love lol

They've gone up now but are still worth the money

6 & 2x3 mate,

Would seriously consider twin scroll whatever it is as whichever of those you choose car will be dead below 4000rpm

imprezagaz 17 August 2016 04:52 PM

What car and spec is it? I'm on a newage sti with avcs and supporting mods. Hits 1.75 bar by 4k. Sc46

Gava 17 August 2016 05:08 PM

2002 sti

vf48
fuel pump
standard 550cc
full de cat 3 inch system
front mount
tubular headers
uprated air intake
3 port

made 353bhp

so want to get it into the 400s as its got power just not fast enough

I'd recommend a Harvey trick up pipe with a bigger turbo. It all helps

Not correct, depends on set up, but now my avcs is working, I feel it start to spool at 3200, I was at blyton over weekend and honestly I really didn't need to knock it down to 2nd on tight corners, I could easier be on boost coming out of corners in 3rd, it's an awesome point to point turbo, I'd say 450 is easily achieved on meth.
Need to get mine on dyno again and see what's what.

Have you got a graph of your 46 on the 2.0? As 46 was made for a 2.5

Both good turbos, but the billet version of the md is mdx321t which is the one I'd get, not the non billet version, md seem to made slightly more power on vpower than sc42 too so either will be fine.
Depends on cost really

[I]The exhaust was restricting the flow. Il be going back soon to get it checked again after fitting a revolution system

So at 4000rpm your making 225bhp and 300ft/lbs,

Id say before that is dead, same as all powerful 2.0 cars

SmurfyBhoy 18 August 2016 08:49 AM

Not that my car is any better lol pretty much the same,

What turbo are you running? I was expecting it to be worse comparing to my old sc38. There isn't much in it really. Meth map next I think lol
