boost problems

Hi there, iam new to subarus and i have a small problem (i hope)

I have a 2003 wrx which is standard apart from an aftermarket airfilter.

The car has always been running .9 -1.0 bar of boost in my two months of ownership which i believe is standard?

Recently it will only boost .5 -.6 bar but sometimes it will jump up to 1.0 bar for a bit and back to .5 bar again.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks
John

Sounds like the ECU is pulling the boost back for safety, maybe detting so timing also being pulled back.
Buy a cheap vag com cable, download romraider and have a look at what's going on,you can do some datalogging and read any error codes, this should tell you more about what's going on.
First thing to do tho would be to check all pipe work including intake and intercooler, could be just a split hose or a bad hose collapsing under boost.
Just to add: also worth giving the BCS a clean, have a search on here on how to clean properly.
