They saved my mates BMW, they had them on as standard but when he didn't close his bonnet correctly it flipped back and bent the bonnet where the gas struts were linked.

I remember saying to him if they weren't there he would have wrecked his roof and window screen. Luckily he only needed a new bonnet, might have had a small dent on roof, got a small picture somewhere.

Yeah, they may not be able to prevent ANY damage... But it's better than if they weren't in place. As your anecdote illustrates. :thumb:
