Ignition system woes.
Hello ladies and gentlemen.
I have an '02 WRX with a no start condition and I'd like to confirm/deny my diagnosis before I go tearing things apart. Vehicle ran fine this morning, no previous issues of this nature. Stopped for coffee, out of car maybe 20 minutes. Ignition off, lights off, no draw. When I got back in, it acted as if the battery was dead. (I don't have a multimeter with me) Tried to jump start it to no avail. When I put the key in the ignition, everything seems normal, until I turn the key forward, and and the odometer fades to nothing. Key back, odometer comes back on, but no power to anything else. I believe I'll replace the battery, first, as it's three years old but, I'm thinking there's an issue with the ignition switch. Opinions? Thanks in advance! |
It was the battery.

I would have said the same !!
Welcome to Scoobynet.... It was so weird though, how abruptly it went bad, and that it wouldn't even try to start with a jump. I mean, I've had Jaguars for years and even with their "particular" ignition systems, this was still very odd. |
If it drops a cell, it'll die in an hour.
