Fiat 124

Go for the Abarth, you know it makes sense.
|
Overpriced MX5 for badge snobs.
|
Looks great imo, but is it simply a rebadged MX5

Hired something badged lancia while in Italy , apart from the badge there wasn't anything Italian much about it - probably wont die from rust though

Yes, both good looking cars - but obviously it he Italian styling has it
Love the twin cam cover bumps on the bonnet - classic sixties styling The 124 is the name of an old model isn't it |

One my favourite classics. And the new one is cracking.
Think was originally going to be Alfa Romeo who did it in partnership with Mazda but the bosses got huffy because it wouldn't have been built in Italy (I think that was the story) |

And looks good in period bronze too (although back in the day that was indistinguishable from rust ) |

I like it. You won't see as many on the road as mx5's and it's different enough to look at. It's a bit like the gt86/brz thing.
|
Saw one in the flesh.Lovely
Think Fiat got the styling right,Mazda got it wrong (from someone who had an mx) |

Tell her to have a glance at the Abarth.Fiat done an amazing job of going back to the 60's
|
All the reviews I watched were not very complimentary about the engine. It seems to suffer from turbo lag. I prefer the looks of the mx5 and the Fiat doesn't have a LSD so it won't be as good when pressing on.
Less of a drivers car than an mx5 but then plenty of people buy SLK's.....so when did a focused drive matter to style conscious hairdresser types? :p |
lol.Reality is,brilliant as mx5 is,I found it to be the most mind bogglingly slow car I have ever owned or driven.
Fun at a roundabout. Not fun when the milk float overtook you..... |
I owned a 1968 124 sports coupe, 1400 twin over head cam engine, needed a mirror to adjust the points gap, sky blue, loved it to bits. Blew the engine up twice.

Fun at a roundabout. Not fun when the milk float overtook you..... My MX5 is certainly pitifully slow and my elderly 306 turbo diesel, kept as a runaround, gives it a good run for its money. How sad is that? |
different layout but both great chassis

Yes, same chassis as the 306 gti I believe. Very chuckable little car, but then so is the MX5, its saving grace. |
Lol.At the end of the day,two bloody great cars on the market.
Funnily enough,Top Gear mag seemed to be leaning towards the 124.... |
i wouldnt get one because its a fiat!!
|
Think Fiat owns ferrari! I'd have one of those.lol
|
My missus had a 500. Decent car but wouldn't buy any others. Just my preference really
|
My ex missus has a 500 too
Thing is rusting and falling apart after 2 years! I'd love an Aifa but same things put me off :( |
