EBC brake pads

I've been recommended some EBC brakes, red I think, for 170 front and back fitted. Does anyone have any opinion on these?

Don't do it.

BurningSky 26 July 2016 12:35 PM

Why not? What would you suggest? They just updated to say it would be blacks on the front and yellow on the rear

ST-X 26 July 2016 12:38 PM

Red are crap. Blue aren't amazing when you really push. Orange are pretty good when you push but not amazing when cool. If you're on a budget and don't drive that hard then they may be okay but I'm sure AS or Godspeed would have a better option available than Red's. If you can stretch some more budget you'll get vastly greater performance.

EBC are crap pads, wouldnt run them in my daily driver never mind the scoob. You can get better for the money speak to Alyn at AS Performance for better options

I've just finished bedding in a set of yellow stuff fronts, must say they feel really good, saying that I've gone front 2 pot(old car) to 6 pot fronts so anything would feel better to me.
Unfortunately they are my only pad option unless I get them made!

Ferodo DS2500's are a good all round pad

ronjeramy 26 July 2016 01:18 PM

Currently bedding in performance friction z pads on my widetrack, heard good things about them. :)

I have project Mu all round on my spec C, Pretty decent.

I had EBC red stuff on my old hawk sti, they weren't particularly great.

Got these too, better than the DS2500s they replaced and less expensive.

BrownPantsRacing 26 July 2016 05:16 PM

I echo the others comments above. Don't do EBC pads they are useless. Discs are fine, but pads are just terrible.

Performance friction is the way forward.

BurningSky 26 July 2016 05:59 PM

Thanks for the input, I will enquire as to if this garage will fit performance friction z rated pads.

Scoobyclinic 6 pots.
The version 1 type.
There is some stock still about for the pads but they're discontinued, had to have the rotors made.

BurningSky 27 July 2016 12:31 PM

The garage I was going to use say they haven't heard of/can't get performance friction. Does anyone know a fitter in/near Essex?

BrownPantsRacing 27 July 2016 12:46 PM

I used to buy mine from Bob @ Aztec Performance, but sadly it looks like he's finally gone out of business now. Website shut, ebay shop shut and proposal to strike off the companies register pending. Shame.

Paben 27 July 2016 02:09 PM

AS Performance and Godspeed do them, then fit them yourself.

AS Performance 30 July 2016 08:30 AM

Performance Friction / PFC is always available from ourselves being one of the largest UK Wholesalers............

BurningSky 31 July 2016 11:51 AM

Ordered and looking forward to trying them out!

BurningSky 04 August 2016 08:23 PM

Pads fitted, any advice on how long they should be bedded in for?
