P1 Values ???

Looking at buying a P1 and the prices seem to be all over the place, any advice on valuations ?? would be looking at a standard car not many or 1 owner and low miles. Don't want anything with high miles !!!!

Any advice please ?

based on your criteria you're a sellers dream right now, basically they're all sticking their finger in the air and plucking a number out.

Budget anywhere from 10 to 15k, depending on the seller being a greedy trader or private enthusiast.

MattyB1983 23 July 2016 12:00 PM

Low mileage, standard one owner P1.... budget nearer 20 large.

mercedessx 23 July 2016 12:12 PM

But trying to find one with a fsh and spotless is proving to be hard. Would you expect the car to have a fsh and be spotless for that money at that age ???

TypeR99 23 July 2016 08:50 PM

Nope. Theyre a 16/17 year old car in a currently massively inflated market.

Type R prices are actually the most realistic at the moment and depending on wether you're looking for a trophy queen or an actual drivers car, a Type R would probably be a better buy.

You may want to lower your expectations. Personally, I'd be wary of any 15+ year old low mileage car as its likely to have sat for massively long periods of time and age will be catching up with it at an alarming rate. Low mileage doesnt make it a good car, far from it in a lot of cases. Mileage means absolutely nothing, its care/maintenance that count and this doesnt just mean FSH.

Take for example a 50,000 mile year 2000 car, should have had 15+ services, at least 2 cambelts and have an extensive history of care because if its been used so little the owner must have plenty of time on their hands to keep things in order.

My Type R has 173,000 kms on it, and I've owned a hawkeye with 240,000 miles on it. I've also had in a P1 with 80k on the clock needing £1000 of welding, paintwork and underseal and a 47k Hawk sti with blown headgaskets from a siezed thermostat.

Based on the number of P1's left, their age and that theyre a dull Type R I'd say your search for a low mileage minter is going to be a long, and expensive one.

MattyB1983 23 July 2016 09:16 PM

Not the low low miles you're after but a low owner standard car and had the inevitable engine rebuild done already...

I've seen P1s listed for silly money recently. It annoys me that these greedy traders try to charge so much and it annoys me that people actually think these cars are worth this much and are prepared to pay it! If people refused to pay silly money, the over-inflated market would cease to exist. Simple!

Munk 24 July 2016 08:18 AM

looking at 10k upwards i think depending on condition and millege. i think the main reason they are fetching so much is because they where a limited run/irrelivant if people think they are a watered down type r or not, enthusiasts still want them because of this, prices are on the up..same as wr1 rb,:thumb:
i would rather have one with higher millege and proof of paintwork/body work/engine builds, and bills shows they have been cared for and had money thrown at them.:thumb:

 Tom Harvey cars!!!

Google is your friend here! Formerly known as Boys Toyz and Paul Brown cars, I believe. Based in High Wycombe. Even mentioning their name is forbidden on some forums, eg. the Supra forum.

Scrappy9 24 July 2016 05:19 PM

As previously said P1s are 16 years old l doubt there are many one owner low mileage cars about and the ones that will either continue to be keepers or if they come on the market they will be at a premium.

P1 prices have started to increase over last 12-18 months, l see no reason why that will change, they will never hit Es cos levels, but for a Subaru they seem a good bet to not lose money.

Matty81 24 July 2016 05:37 PM

P1 55,000 £17000 on auto trader

P1

They are out there but will be hard to find and as others have said at a premium, some will not have had an engine rebuild if they have been treated well and not messed about with.
Good luck with the search but might have to be patient

The P1 prices will rise, but hey ho you only live once and there are loads of cars I want to own :luvlove:

How are you doing, how's the food industry going these days, I'll have to pop in when I'm down that way and get a run in your P1 :notworthy

nice !, always had a soft spot for the RS, why did you not get the current Rs 4x4...thought that would of been the logical choice .....I know they are more costly to buy but it a sure fire classic in the future :D

Your welcome to pop in anytime....let me know a day before though ....as I don't drive the P1 to work...have a focus St as a daily .

Was actually thinking of selling the P1 last week ....but only for a split second as I was doing the math to see if I can afford a 997 turbo, then I came to my senses :D, probably end up sell my E90 M3 instead .
The Mk 2 RS are rumoured to be very thirsty ?, what your experience so far with yours ?

elgassi 14 September 2017 09:20 PM

^
not a fan of the Mk3 at all, the early 2016 models are getting real bad reviews for the engines are popping (sounds like the P1)
The MK2 is a far nice looking car IMO and will hopefully become the future Rs classic lol
The Rs has the mountune 375bhp upgrade, it does like the juice if you have a heavy right foot, normal driving seems a bit better going by the onboard displays
I've only done 70 miles in the car, it's taken over the P1's slot in the garage as an ornament

johned 14 September 2017 09:54 PM

Petrol cars=fun.

yes...Mk 2 look nicer , but with over 300bhp at the fronts ..not good in slippery conditions :D .

yep , no doubt your model with rise in value as time goes by , ...was just on Pistonhead earlier, looking at the prices of the 997 turbos and 928s...and they seem to have gone up a bit since the last time I looked !!

better get one before they go up and up !

oh and I seen a p1 on there that has a asking price £33K :D

bet you miss the rumble of the flat four :)
