Just had to pay a £100 fine and send my licence of for endorsing. First offence no speed awareness course offered. Doing 47 in what I believed was a 40 zone turned out to be a 30 zone.

Any idea what I can expect increase wise on insurance?

Will depend on the endorsement. If and SP30 and you are not too young, I doubt the increase will be much. Since you were a fair bit over the limit (>50%), you may get a heavier endorsement (SP50?) which the insurers will like a lot less.

Best way is to log into money supermarket or the like and compare quote with/without the offense).

Sp50 is breaking motorway speed so he wont get that it will be sp30

thanks for the replies guys much appreciated. do I inform insurer now or when licence is returned and endorsed? assume its after endorsement so I know what it will actually be?

Notifying your insurer when you get your licence back should be ok unless you were in the process of changing insurer then I'd notifying them that it's pending.
