Pretty sure you have to be over 13 to have a Google account so you'll be fine

Not sure what he was up to then as there's no need to run after anything.

ccsimpreza 14 July 2016 03:15 PM

I struggle to understand the appeal of this game but then I struggle to understand stamp collectors and train/bus enthusiasts, so whatever floats your boat :)

This game is generating some serious cash and so as much as I don't understand the appeal I have to recognise it's commercial success. I wonder if AR gaming is a blip or something more enduring and how will the up and coming VR gaming change it's dynamic?

Oh for **** sake, I knew Pokemon Go was sad but that's taking it to a whole new level.

I feel the same way about a bunch of millionaires kicking a dead pig around a field and people pay to watch that.

Being born in 1990, when Pokemon was in its prime regarding the trading cards around 1999-2001, I was at the perfect age to enjoy Pokemon and spent a lot of my pocket money on the cards and trading the rare holo cards with friends. I even have every single holo card from the 1999 Base set, Fossil set and Jungle set (all near-mint/mint) framed in my downstairs bathroom. So yeah, I loved Pokemon but I honestly don't get the obsession with this game.

Yes I've got it and I've probably spent 20 minutes on it. Living on a farm sucks for the game as there is nothing anywhere near me and I guess my closest "pokestop" is 3 miles away in the nearest town!

For me this game is missing a fundamental section.... Multiplayer battles. For example, if you've got the app open and you walk past someone else with their app open, you should be able to send a challenge request. If the other person accepts then you should be able to wirelessly battle them. That would be awesome. I expect they'll eventually introduce something like that as apparently they're working on a trading part of the game.

But for now, I don't quite get it....

Same for Ingress, live in the stick and you're at a severe disadvantage, I can see four gyms and untold stops from where I'm sat. There's a constant flow of people walking past playing. I'm sure the interest will die down shortly but I said the same about ingress and millions play that every day... all day!

How is the game monetized?

In app purchases. You can buy "pokecoins" which in turn allows you to buy poke balls, lures, lucky eggs, etc...

What Marcus said and in Ingress locations and items can be sponsored, the same will come to Pokemon no doubt. Plus, location data, time between stops, is valuable.

BlkKnight 19 July 2016 10:48 AM

Ah so you have a finite number of attempts to catch a pokemon? I wondered how they generated money from it.

I've been playing Ingress for a few months now - that's the game for when you grow up. Have installed and tried Poke, but it's sh!te.

Enlightened if you need to ask.

Good man. I still like ingress, but it gets tired locally after years, useful in new cities. I'm just really happy to see people playing games on the street.
