Brake light LEDs blown
Hi guys,
I bought my STI spoiler in April from Scoobyworld and a number of the LED's in the brake light strip have already died, does anyone know if there's an easy way to either replace the LED's or to replace the strip as a whole? PFA :) https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...23758502_o.jpg |
Seller may be able to help with a new one. If they are anything like the genuine ones, it's a sealed unit, and they are soldered to a piece of circuit board.
|
the strip is easy enough to swap out, contact seller for free replacement if its under 12 months.

Thanks guys, there's 2 phillips head screws on the face of it at either end so i'm guessing these may play a part but I didn't want to go fiddling before hand :)

unplug from car loom, get pin and remove the wires from the connector plug for the brake light, tape a draw wire to the old wires, undo the 2 screws you have on the brake light and ease out, pull the brake light wires and draw wire thru to the rear,
As the Haynes manual says, refit is reverse of removal, this should save you having to faff about removing the spoiler. hth |
If you haven't a draw wire, a decent bit of string will do.

Lovely thanks guys, i've spoken with Scoobyworld and they are sending me a replacement :)

it may be worth a bit of sealer if there is any obvious ways for water to get into the new one, as they shouldnt be failing within 12 months. :thumb: |
I had same with scoobyworld spoiler on my old wrx but they sent out a replacement without any problem,

Agree about the sealer, but don't use silicone, decorator's caulk, at 99p a tube from Screwfix, is better.
