Sigma M30 expert advice anyone?

chaps,

Hope everyone is well.

I have recently purchased a Legacy 3.0R SpecB.

I ws trying to get a mod suggested by a member on the Legacy forum to work on my car (auto fold mirror upon locking) but have hit a snag due to the fact I have a saloon and the problem seems to arise from the fact that pin 3 (aux input 1 on the sigma) is used on the saloon to trigger the boot open.

I need a -Ve signal from the sigma to the relay that is wired up to the mirror switch. It looks like pin 3 is the only wire that will work?

I did try pin 4 also (aux #2 on sigma), I actived this to be a 1 with the keypad but this will not function as intended, this will only be active with the alarm button continually pressed, no good for me. I can see the mirrors fold when the alarm button is pressed but they open again when the button on the fob is released.

TLDR version - Anyone know How I can get a -Ve from the Sigma M30 other than using pin 3, failing that I could just disengage the boot release but i would rather keep it.

thanks.

Pin 4 should be earth whilst armed and not need programming

Pin 4 will not work properly, by default pin 4 (aux 2) is @ '0', to turn it on to '1' which I did and get a -Ve then the mirrors folded but only whilst the key fob button was held down, when released the mirrors opened again.

The sigma manual says something along the lines of -Ve on pin 4 being active when the key fob button is pressed or something along the lines of that.

Pin 3 will work but its tied up with the boot release mechanisim, which I would like to retain.

Any other ideas?

With the alarm in it’s standard form this wire supplies a ground (-ve output) only when the alarm unit is “armed” > Pin 3 (aux 1)

wire 4- turned off as standard, can get a -ve while the button is pressed during arming, this seems to be what i am getting with the mirrors?

This output is turned off if the alarm is in it’s standard form but can be programmed (see programming instructions) to be supply a ground (-ve output) only whilst the remote key button remains pressed on arming i.e. for window closing etc. OR a negative output only for a set time

if you want it just so the mirrors fold on locking can u not take a feed wire from the central locking system and route it via a relay?

mjp02wrx 10 July 2016 11:02 PM

or you can use one of these that will work off the pin 4 pulse

why use the alarm ?
you could do what you want with a £2 relay and the cars own wiring, on the ignition you have a term that is only 12v when the ignition is off, why not use this connection to control the mirrors and save faffing around with the alarm ?

if you want it to only operate the relay for 5 or 6 seconds( windows operation say) we used to add a interior light timer.

Im not an auto electrician so dont know how to do this myself sadly, I am sure if it was that easy to get the mirrors to fold then the alarm would not have been used?

I still have the relay wired up to my mirror switch, how do i go about using the DPDT relay mentioned above on pin 4? I had no luck with pin 4 as it just opened the mirrors again once the key fob button was released.

cheers

have you seen this ?

looks similar to what I am trying to do myself, i have ran into a stumbling block with my boot tieing up the pin 3 signal of the alarm and dont seem to have any concrete news on what other area of the alarm i can tap into for a -Ve signal, if wire 4 will do using a DPDT relay that is something i could probably do.

why not just buy one of the mirrormatics ?

toffee_pie 11 July 2016 12:51 AM

how is that different than what I already use, it also uses the alarm? I also need wiring for a legacy saloon.

besides the fact it comes with instructions and the method you are taking atm isnt working,
ive offered 2 ways to do what you want, neither is good enough, so good luck.

well, i already said I am not an auto electrician and wiring up a 2 pound relay to the 12v ignition line is easy to some but not to me.

The mirror folding kit looks good but does it have fitting instructions for a mk 4 legacy?

toffee_pie 14 July 2016 12:15 AM

anyone else with assistance on this? mirror matic mod doesnt have wiring info for a MK4 legacy saloon.

Beastie 27 July 2016 07:17 AM

What happens when you use pin 3 for both?

Your mirrors open when you open the boot?

toffee_pie 27 July 2016 08:55 AM

mirror folds in but opens again, boot opens as normal with long press.

I had a look at all the pins and none provide a minus Ve signal upon arming, in other words moving from a zero to a -12V or so is what I need.
