I've long thought if the world was as lovely as his creations, it would be such a nice place. Funnily enough, I remembered Camberwick Green the other day as I stood on the stern of a narrowboat as rose up in a lock. It reminded me of the character appearing out of a musical box at the start of each episode.
If anyone fancies a fix: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trumptonshi...=trumptonshire RIP Mr Murray. Thank you for everything. |
I thought you meant the other, automotive genius for a minute, there! Phew.
Not that this is any less sad, you understand. Ah, the school dinner-time childhood memories... I got pretty 'proficient' lol at guessing the rising character correctly. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ecsmBFUtMyc |
I don't why but I remember the last day they showed Cambereick green on TV, it was about 1985. BBC probably, but could have been Itv. At the end the announcer said it was the last episode, I cried.
I've never seen it repeated on national TV since, until mid 2000 when I came home half-cut and put on Bravo at about 2:00am and there it was. Seems strange that for years children's TV from the 60's was repeated and repeated through decades, until he 1990's. Now we have Peppa pig....do you think that will still be around in 30years? |
