Clutch issues on 05 legacy GT Spec B BL

Hi guys
I have recently bought a fresh import 05 Legacy GT Spec B BL 2.0 with the 5 MT. When driving the car the clutch feels weird and springy with the weight of the pedal increasing a lot just around biting point and there is an audible squeak when the pedal is depressed past biting point coming from outside the car, it seems to slip a lot when you are setting off in first gear but as soon as the clutch bites it doesn't slip anymore. This also makes it impossible to do a fast set off as the clutch will just slip through first gear but if you drop the clutch on any other gear it seems fine. Any idea what could cause this? Flywheel or clutch problem? Also is it a dual mass flywheel?
Also have been seeing a lot of posts on clutches for the 2.5L with the 5MT, would those fit the 2.0L with the 5MT?

Another issue I am having is on a cold start up, if you press the clutch down about 1-2 cm, it makes a high pitch whining noise but it you press it any further or release it, the noise stops. The noise also doesn't happen when the car is warm. I have done some digging and people are saying if could be a clutch release bearing fault, is this right and should I get it changed out as soon as possible?

Thank you for any help

I am on my second WR Ltd Spec B GT BL and neither as missed a beat.

Question 1.

Who did you buy it from?

Question 2.

Did you get a warranty?

Here is your best bet.

Don't forget they have a dual mass fly wheel if the clutch is FUBAR'd.

Thank you for the reply. I got it imported by Prodrift UK and no warranty. My intentions were always to put an upgrade clutch on it to run more power and according to the subaru rally garage near me its not a gonner and the slipping is most likely caused by the DM flywheel and it just needs upgrading however they have no idea which clutch would fit on it, all they can do is either me find a clutch and they will fit it or they can do a 6MT conversion but the price of the box is quiet high so I want t avoid doing that until I have more money saved up.

I got mine from Charlie as well.

Did you get the white one?

I suggest a better garage as ICP are very well know in the trade.

Yeah i did aha and they are a good garage but they specialise in rally cars and don't do a lot of work with imports so they didn't want to recommend anything that they haven't used. I was just down there and they said the flywheel is on its way out so that would need replacing, does that kit include the flywheel and if not then do you know where they sell one or is it worth just buying the solid flywheel conversion kit?

ICP said that they have ordered some clutches in but don't know when tgey will arrive and they don't do flywheels nor the solid flywheel conversion and I haven't managed to get hold of AS performance so I am going to drop and email to them now

I have been super busy but I will definietly get do some research and see what I can do and if I find anything, I will post it here.

Well many days of research has passed and I am stuck with a few decisions. I can get the dual mass flywheel from subaru but no idea how much, guessing a lot. I can also do a solid flywheel conversion though I haven't found any good kits in the UK, only the US. Last option is to do a 6 speed swap which is what I am leaning for at the moment but will post any updates.
