Am I being too fussy with this exhaust?

Bought this Prodrive exhaust off eBay, £120 posted which seems to be the going rate. I've spent 2 hours polishing it up so it looks nice but the seller didn't mention that it's had a patch welded in and one of the hangers doesn't look the best. What do you think? Would you be bothered?

I wouldn't be happy about receiving something in that condition.
If he didn't mention it, you're quite within you rights to open a dispute, PayPal nearly always sides with the buyer.

yeah the hangers aint the best m8, but damn what a shine! what did you use to polish it? was it a done with a machine polisher?

Oranges 10 June 2016 07:28 PM

I'd say the patch is because the hanger has been moved, have you offered it up to see if it fits/ sits level? reason I'm asking is because one of those hangers looks like it's on the piss, pretty sure mine are lined up level, in fact the patch might be the original hanger mount.

I'd open a dispute. :(

Bloody good job with the polishing though :)

Edit: is yours a classic? I can see it's a 1999 model, not sure if moving the exhaust hanger is to make it fit a classic, if the figment is even different to a newage ( No idea if it is)

Yeah seems to line up. No reason why the hanger should have been moved.

In regards to the polishing, thank you. My method is:

1) Glue and tar remover to remove the black tar spots
2) Britemax easy cut metal polish with fine wire wool
3) Britemax finish metal polish with super fine wire wool
4) Wipe and buff with clean cloth and a little more finishing metal polish.

Fair enough, that third pic shows the hanger looks to have been moved though. That weld on its own looks like the original weld for the hanger, it's SS it shouldn't corode and need patching, but then again, if it fits who cares, just stick it on and forget about it :)

Requested a return through eBay and attached the pictures. It's going to bug me forever otherwise, despite spending 2 hours polishing it :(

What pictures where displayed in advert?

First i'd contact the seller might offer you part refund, save you paying return postage.
